What is the experiment you will concentrate on this growing season? I have so many that it is hard to narrow it down to just one. deb

No real garden experiments this year, my mushrooms are the focus oph my experimental abilities. Things are slowly progressing with them. I just gotta be patient.

Compost!!!! Thats what they used. They were growing Button shrooms. Alot different than wood lovin shrooms. Wood shrooms need light to an extent, Buttons are grown in the dark.

They grow alot of mushrooms down here. But they do the method of soaking the logs in water and drilling them to put the spores in... Your doing a box method aren't you.. Don't they need heat to sprout?

Yes they need heat to colonize, Then the temp for fruiting is in the 55-65 degree range. They are using hard woods there Doug. Thats the only wood you can use, and it takes a loooooong time.
