I have to rid the garden of snails slugs & earwigs. I came within 1/8 inch of eating a cooked earwig in my artichoke tonight. the rat that was eating the snails has come to his demise & thought would see if anyone here would admit to devouring their own snails. I know people here in town do it because they have talked about it on the radio in the past. Any recipes or? BTW earwigs are bitter.

biscombe, Tomato update; I have some plants, 4 that were bought or given to me & have planted them, tho has been wet here & not tomato friendly. I have also planted 20-30 diff varieties from seed & waiting for them to show themselves, (not to the snails) hopefully by the weekend.

I have a little cocker spaniel /collie mix that eats snails.
he digs in the garden and hunts them down.
I think he like to hear the shells crunch.

I must say I'm very disappointed. I thought there would be some brave eco-munchie daredevil to encourage me.

I haven't eaten them, but about 30 years ago the gal in apt. next to ours did--she kept them in an aquarium-turned-terrarium, fed them uncooked cornmeal, and as best I can recall, stopped feeding them three days before she planned to eat them (to clean their innards). Don't know what kind they were other than common to San Francisco inner Mission, and don't know how she cooked them.
