I have been growing, collecting, and using herbs for years. No one should 'consider an Herb, safe, just because it is 'natural'. Some Our very mild in their ways...others, need knowledge, either a product of experience, or someone to 'guide' you, in their use. So, that being said, serves as my Disclaimer Thumb Helpful herbs are all around us. Some are quite common, and go un-noticed by most. Some we Plant, have became naturalized, or have been around for Eons. Some herbs we use for cooking, For the wonderful tastes they give our dishes; the fact that medicinal value lies within some of these same herbs, is unknown by many! Geez, Xman 2head this would of been alot easier in the spring! Well , Only being responsible for those that are not here by Gods doing, Yes, there is a bunch of good stuff on the Pharm! Xman, you just ask away. YB, catnip takes a medium moist soil, best to start in a soiless mix, not very deep at all, in fact, lay the seed on top, and just mix it around some, a couple plants will be many, in a couple years, unless of course you harvest it before it sets seed. About the same for valariien. Press the seeds into a flat of soil and bottom water them until they sprout. This takes between 7 and 14 days. You can start them indoors in the fall/winter so to have a strong plant to set outside. propagate by root cuttings or division. the nest fall/winter. Most of your herbs self seed, and you just sort of imitate nature when planting them, toss em' on the soil and stir!

My old outdoor cat is actually the 'planter' of alot of the catnip around here, often I would see him grab the top of a plant, rip off some and head to a sunny area to lay and Mutilate it...yeah, it spreads, but is managable
