Since my beans have been diagnosed with a virus and are dying before my very eyes, I have a question.
Would it be a mistake to put the dead plants in my compost? Would the virus infect everything?

No, it's best NEVER to add any diseased plant material to your compost. Some times your compost just doesn't heat up enough to destroy all the bad stuff. I had a bout with Septoria virus on my tomato crop a few years ago, took the infected vines, piled em' turned em' burned em' in an area that was Not garden space...till the next summer when i decided to till that area up, and plant...tomatoes geez what a moron ...Disaster...two years in a row...You'd a thunk the fire woulda destroyed any disease in the vines........

OMG!! Now I'm wondering if that's what my problem was last year!!! Is my soil infected now??? How in the world do I get rid of it for future plantings??
