DAP they are Japanese Silver Phoenix, here are some pics of the ones I used for breeding. The hen and roo on top of the cage (getting ready for a show) are Tim and Faith, then there in the pen is Chanteclear (roo) and 6 pullets. I did line breeding by taking the Father (Tim) of the pullets and putting him in with them, and putting Chanteclear in with his mother. It is okay to breed like that, its called line breeding. Then you can take one from each batch of those and breeding is fine, its breeding cousins. I also have another roo, Willie, but his tail is just not acceptable and I don't think he would be good for breeding, he is still a nice roo though. Caveman, I actually do have a house chicken...lol. I had Mazda you know, but he passed. I don't think I have introduced my new little man, I will have to make a seperate post for him...will see about that in a bit. The first ones I ever hatched were hard to sell, I grew attached, but this time it feels like all business, I am good with it. Thankyou also Chickenfarmer and crazy1!

Here is a nice picture of Willie. You can see he has a really nice saddle, longer than Tims, but his tail is not uniform. This picture is recent and his tail looks much better than it used to, but still not what I want in my breeding. He is a sweet guy though, I let him out when I let all the layer ladies out to freerange, and he really enjoys himself! He also is a good protector, will run the crows off.

Anytime DAP! You just let me know and we will get a day together. Only day taken up is Thursdays. Thats when we go out to eat and go shopping for groceries and to the feed store for all the critters needs. We are also taking one day a weekend down to the old house to finish loading up stuff we left behind til later cause we actually got a contract on the house! Now if we can just make it to the closing without anything happening! The folks started out being quite difficult about it all.

Oh, congratulations!! I know what a relief it is to have that contract, but also how much stress it causes hoping nothing falls thru. I remember it all to well! We'll get together soon!

Ha, Cavey's right .. If he remembers, we tried that with 6 baby Chicks, {Games} and a baby Goosling and Duckling... and they all became Pets .... That Goose was the Best Watch Dog we ever had.. but all the Varmits living here in our neck of the woods, ate all the bitties up once they got bigg enough for us to let loose . We believe in free range birds.. but the Free Range always gets the Better End of the Deal..
