from Bill HR 875 (before mar.3rd) Please Tell Congress "No" on the farm control bills! HR 875 salsa.democracyinaction.org/o/568/t/1128/campaign.jsp?campaign_KEY=26714We have LESS THAN 2 WEEKS to stop the take over of farms and ranches. "These bills will industrialize all farms and insure the farmers are forced to buy chemicals and drugs. Under these bills -"Organic" is dead. As well as human control over the food supply." We've set up an Action Item for you to send an unmistakable message to your representatives in the Senate and the House. We must educate Congress that you do not want organic and small farmers regulated OUT OF existence. You do not want "Big Agra" regulations,( perhaps necessary to protect the public when dealing with large scale agra business), TO BE applied to organic and small family farms and ranches or to natural and organic food products including Dietary Supplements. Please go to the above site to e-mail your senate and congressmen and the President re: your disapproval of government industrial mandates on small farmers and ranchers! LETS WORK TOGETHER TO SAVE FAMILY FARMS AND "ORGANICS". I know this is an issue near and dear to all of us in this group. It only takes a minute to sign the email. Thanks!!!!!

~Bump~ I am bumping this post up, just to let y'all know the bill hasn't past yet! Please contact your elected officials! Send them a letter, or e-mail. You can use this "form Letter if you'd like.
Hello
I want to strongly encourage you to vote NO on the Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009, HR-875. Our ability to choose the freshest, best and locally grown food are being placed in jeopardy.
It is very important to me to be able to eat fresh fruits and veggies...locally grown and organic. HR-875's current wording would seem put the small farmer and the organic farmer out of business. The small and organic farmers are not where tainted food comes from...it's the large farms and factories.
I do not believe that we need this legislation, but if it were to move forward, I believe that this bill at least needs some modification. My suggestion would be to require the proposed regulations to farms over a certain size or acreage. I am also concerned about adding another government agency where we already have the FDA and USDA. Why not staff them adequately to monitor the safety of our food supply, if that is the intent of the legislation?
I am very concerned about the safety of mass produced food. However, I do not feel that the Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009, HR-875 is the answer to this issue.
Thanks for your attention to this matter.
Regards,

We can all breath a momentary sigh of relief that HR 875 did not pass, but as with most things in congress, they do not go away easily. Let’s keep our eyes on this one and make sure the lobbyists behind this bill don’t get their way.
