Hey guys. I wanted to share with you the next chapter of my ever changing life. IF we can swing it, I am going to school. I am kinda freaked out about it. I graduated highschool in 97. I had always though I would end up continuing my education, but having my son and being a singnal momma for so long put that dream to rest. (atleast for a while anyways)
So now, being married to a kick @ss man who supports me, this should be easier to do (I hope) The thought behind this is this : my hubby is a bit older than me and retirement is 18 years away for him. (if we were so lucky as to be able to have him retire at 62) I am 30 and have YEARS of working ahead of me. My older son want to become an astronaut. This is great, and its not just some childhood dream for him...he works on his school work and his physical ability and his diet every day in hopes to become a "space cowboy" LOL. He wants it bad, so we are looking at years of school for him. Which equates to a TON of $$$$. Then comes the lil one. He will probably want to go to school too. So poor hubby will be working his tail off just to make ends meet and after doing the math....it wont work on his wages. So here is were I come in and go to school.
I am hoping to work towards a degree in sustainable agriculture. I have no idea where to even begin! This is something I never thought I was going to be able to do! I am also looking into another prgram. Dual majors in sustainable agriculture and ecogastronomy. Its a brand new program at UNH. (and so far, the only one in the US) After doing some research I can see that a degree in this field will almost insure a job, in a number of different positions. IF the US gets smart and decided to solve some of our problems, this looks like a very good field to get into. My classes will include time on the farm, in the kitchen, in labs and (if I do the dual major in ecogastronomy) time abroad in Italy. They have an entire Ecogastronomy University. I am excited, but kinda out of my ellement. So, wish me luck. I am used to flying by the seat of my pants and will find it hard to ground myself long enough to do this right. But I also know I will enjoy it. So phamily...please...keep your fingers and toes crossed for me and I will keep you posted.
