:)Trudy, I don't think any one can be ready for the percent of inflation being talked about. We who can grow a few things and maybe raise an animal or two will better off than the folks living in town. Now to figure out how to keep what we grow. The thieves will be out in great numbers. CF

Living in some bad times and will only get worse. All we can do is make sure our hearts are right with the Lord and pray. All I know to say.

I can't load it either, no foul on your part Trudy, it's our dial up...However... things will get worse, wish I could say they will get worse...BEFORE they get better, but I don't believe that to be in the cards. I agree CF , thieves will be out, but they are now. we have had no problems here in the country, I have heard from many though that have rented space in town, or a community garden...only to feed someone else...the difference when things DO get worse is that there will be many of these "thieves" ..hungry pholks..take drastic measures in hard times many pholks back home..some old enough to be My parents... turn to "illegal" alternatives for money to feed their families (not all those pot growers are camo clad outlaws) Many; faced with the "gamble" of buying a hunting license/deer permit, and possibly NOT bagging a animal...just DON'T buy the permit...14 years ago it was over 20 bux for the permit... 20 dollars...buy food..buy a permit with a "chance" of filling your bellies...what would You do? (I KNOW..what I did)personally, I believe if it goes in your bellies, you shouldn't need a permit... I also believe they should Quadruple the license fee for those that want a nice mount for a wall decoration...and throw the rest of the beast away The possibility of this "Senate Bill S 510" passing, is scary and very possible...I'm not sure what I would/will do, but I know... they will have to raid Our home, take our seed cache...and jail me.. I won't quit gardening till I draw my last breath..hopefully..while gardening

Poaching is fine but bottom line,if ya dont like rats thats all there will be quickly, then what?
Fill your pantry while you can,you can eat it down the road for less than it will cost in the future, its a win win.At least a year of staples.

Wages always go up when there is inflation, so that $11 ear of corn will not be as bad as it looks. could you buy that ear of corn if your income increased 10 fold? It would still be more expensive, but you could probably buy it.
The people who get hurt the worse by inflation are the people on fixed income, especially if they do not own their own home. Homeowners with vegetable gardens and jobs are hurt very little.
That being said, I prefer flowers to vegetables, and yet I mostly raise the veggies. This is because I am middle aged, and I have seen enough inflation and recessions to really VALUE having a yard full of food: it makes me feel both rich and confident. Yes, I raise flowers as well for their beauty, but the best gardening area in my yard is not full of flowers, it is full of food.

Or your whole retirement worth 10 cents on dollar, that a killer. That is what hurt the old folks when I was growing up. People will need to keep an eye on their elderly relatives, because most are too proud to say they can no longer feed themselves. Mom used to take grandpa shopping once a month and fill up his cupboards on canned goods, even though her own budget was tight. She didn't ask him, either, she just took him and filled his cupboards. My Mom could be a bit PUSHY at times but it was what he needed.

Gidday I am getting mofre and more worried about what is happening with what was once the Land of the Free. Because I know that what happens there is bound to happen here to. "The U.S. government wants to know where your greenhouse is. Under Senate Bill 510 -- which is now back in the hands of the U.S. Senate after the House hid an amendment in an appropriations bill and passed it last night -- American food producers would be required to register their facilities with the U.S. government. The feds, it seems, want a database of food growers so they know who to target for surprise inspections (show me your papers!). As stated in the bill itself: (http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi...) SEC. 102. REGISTRATION OF FOOD FACILITIES. 18 (a) UPDATING OF FOOD CATEGORY REGULATIONS; BIENNIAL REGISTRATION RENEWAL. Section 415(a) (2120 U.S.C. 350d(a)) "The registration shall contain an assurance that the Secretary will be permitted to inspect such facility at the times and in the manner permitted by this Act." www.naturalnews.com/030672_Food_Safety_bill_FDA.html

Thats what I was wondering. Doesnt the rest of the World get fed up with the nonsense happening here, then becoming their Countries Policy? 911,now the World cant ravel without being strip searched,Now this Assange nonsense and the internet of the World needs control.Im still looking for a bombshell in this story of releases and its nothing but fluff and pablum, nothing there at all. Doesnt pass the smell test, what is the big deal about this 'Internet Terrorist',there isnt anything being released at all that matters at all. Whole thing just stinks is my take.....now WHY,thats the question.

When I buy a hunting license I know it is a gamble. If we did not have limit access to game it would all be killed off. Licenses does limit how many can hunt. Yes, they have came up. Now here you must buy the license before that season. Years ago not that way and some did hunt then buy a license. Most season you have to draw a license and not just go buy one. You get all but 3 $ back if do not get a license. And you get a point and as more points you have better chance to get a license. They try to be fair on the drawing I think. My 3 licenses I was sending for was like a total of $117 .
My son is raising two calves. I am in for a quarter maybe. He still has not taken them to butcher. I think they need to grow longer. It takes a fence and hot wire and even the river did not stop them from running off. He bought a stock trailer to haul them home. So far he has found them. Deer took out hot wire. He has had fun. They go acrossed the river.
I do not have fence to hold anything. Or barn. No chicken house or rabbit cages. Wonder how fried cat would taste. Raccoons come on place here and you need a license for them . They take your corn. Foxes kill the cats. Racccon eat the melons. Hollow them out. Use to not be bothered with foxes and raccoons. Raccoons are suppose to be eatable.
I have not read the bill and I did read the other one before it. It was commerical things and not home things. You do have to start at the begaining of it and read it. My son said it has nothing to do with home gardener saving his seed. Monsanto seed most of us would never have any of that any way and different thing. You sign a contract when you buy I understand.
Need a good garden. One can live with little or no meat if you grow beans. Indian 3 sister garden, corn, beans ands squash. That would be winter squash I would say.
I prefer growing veggies to flowers. People that steal get caught and go to jail or they get shot. Could get bit too. Could make it harder on the family.

I am getting the 'not available in your country' message from YouTube too but I don't like to be told what I can and can't look at online so I found another working link for the same story via Fox Business News' website... video.foxbusiness.com/v/4416855/nia-president-beware-of-massive-food-inflation/I honestly cannot see food prices rising to the extent mentioned in the video. The same financial pressures apply over here too but suppliers won't increase prices beyond what the majority can reasonably pay otherwise they just won't sell anything. That's not to say that prices won't rise at all but as we all shop around for the best prices I am sure that it will be no worse next year than in other years.
