THIS IS MY FIRST TRY AT GROWING GIANT PUMPKINS. MY PLANTS LOOK GOOD AND I HAVE A PUMPKIN ON THE VINE THAT PROBABLY WIEGHTS 35 POUNDS. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT IT IS ONLY ABOUT 5 OR 6 FEET DOWN ON THE VINE. WILL IT STILL HAVE A CHANCE AT BEING 150POUNDER OR BETTER? THANKS FOR ALL THE GREAT ADVICE!

Welcome guest! Of course you do Jeff, just a few years ago, I raised a Big pumpkin on a very short vine, weight 375 proper care of the vine 'after' the pumpkin becomes your main interest now, but still lavish the whole plant with water and nutrients

Good job Jeff. Mine dried up from lack of rain and to many days of 100 + weather. The ground under the vines cracked and the majority of the soil, that I covered the vines with, went down the cracks. Even though I watered them everyday. Two gallons per vine. I had 3 vines. In the process of building a 'punkin run' behind the garage. This way they will only get sun for a half day, in the morning.

I think someone in Canada grew a pumpkin over 1000 lbs, at 6 ft. on the mainvine. Take care of the plant, as Phil said, and you should do just fine. Please keep us updated on your progress.
