well jeanette, that camera broken? what have you been feeding Bob? An excess of nitrogen will cause major growth, off setting the flowering. Try sumpin with a high phosphorous content (the P in the N-P-K)

There is no secret Mickee, when I moved to this place, there was a garden spot, looked like cement, with some scrawny, dead, left in the ground plants, that grew outa shear desperation! Lots of leaves, compost, manure, Green manure crops...the list goes on. This handfull of compost holds the key Mickee, FEED THE SOIL, it will lavish your plants in nutrients. Ya'll should consider your gardens "work in progress", I do. Now, I been thinking about using the 6000+ square feet as Pumpkin area(s) and growing herbs for sale. THIS WILL...make the need for us to come up with a "perfect" garden...(sorry Laura, sweetie pie, honey bunch, You haven't heard my latest scheme! but yeah I been thinkin' again

It's been a challenging year to grow giant pumpkins in MN. Heat, drought ,and cucumber beetles were my major challenges. I hope my only prospect makes it to weighoff on Oct.1.
