Thank Ya'll Set Wilson out yesterday, first I added around 75 lbs, I'm guessing, of compost, and some composted peat, the soil test was pulling 7-7.5 in this area, so I had to bring her down a full point, itsa nice 6 now. Hope all goes well, WIND, will be the problem this year, prevailing south wind here is at full gail, SOybeans in neighboring fields, corn year= GOOD, Bean year= windy as all get out

Wilson is looking great! I like the name wilson! So how does one know when da punkin plant is ready to be planted outside? Like how many leaves should it have before you plant it outside?

Your soil is beautiful! What's your secret? Mine is always caked and dry....When my plants break out, the ground cracks. I guess it's too late to fix it now, but I guess for future reference? Those plants are looking great! Mine are wee things, I got started late. They just now have true leaves as of yesterday.

I know the Pharmer uses compost as well as most of us. It sounds like you have clay or a real hard soil. One thing you can do now is use straw or grass to mulch it. It will keep the moisture in and then when you till the ground it will help to loosen it up.

i'd like it alot more if i could ever grow one.. not sign of the dreaded SVBs, but old bob just isn't doing much.. i know its from lack of rain.. i water but it's just not the same.. we need a nice slow soaker.. real real bad...
