i think i'm going to plant my now too then- keep them in house. Ya i think only three...yupers thats what i will do...Adelita-- LOL this going to be fun. Let me throw in some advice here pholks... It will take aproximately 5 days for your "baby" to grow a root that will bottom out and fill a 2 pound coffee can. Once the main root starts circling around in the container... You will decrease your chances of a HEAVY pumpkin...drastically. Pumpkins Do Not deal well with roots being boundEven disturbing the root when setting it in the garden will decrease your chances. The larger the container the better. If you start in a coffee can as in the pictures, it would be best to be 4-5 days away from weather with MINIMUM night time temps of 50°, or have shelters constructed to maintain this temp I used the Large coffee can (larger than average) in the pics, the "top" I cut holes in for drainage... The BOTTOM, I cut off and used the can so I could remove the bottom (again actually the top) and slip the plant into the hole in the garden. Other pholks have used different thangs to achieve this: Cardboard box (open bottom, slide plant in to hole) 5 gallon bucket (sides of bucket sawn near bottom, leaving tabs only tabs that can be easily cut, and the bottom removed allowing plant to slide down into hole) bushel Basket (same principal as bucket)

i was planning on a gallon jug, three of them tops cut off and well drained, this way i could see when the roots get to the egde of container. I have been studying the post of the BIGG ONES.
Plus i drool every time i see your Phil-babys or Dougs-babys Pic's.
