seein all there purty flower pics had me goin through mine, i know there has to be other ponders in here, this is my pond i redid last year, it was in the ground n i decided to raise it up, i love the wood look, i get logs n stuff from the woods after a storm knocks a few trees down, rj helps me drag n up n cut em up n i got all the rocks from my yard when hubs dug out the back yard. i put the hostas at the bottom n impatience in the top , , , inside i bought white fish tank rocks, koi fish n plants, the coons ate the fish but frogs like to visit , , i also like garden decor, i get the glass paperweights from the dallor store now n then, n fish tank stuff ill find at the flea market.n a toad house, n a toad nick nacks, , , i know eventualy the wood will rot cause its old n not treated but thats ok cause i can redo it again, you cant see all the lil decors cause the impatience took over, i like to get my garden decor from fleamarkets, good will n the dollar store cuse there just as cute but dont cost what a garden center decor would my plants were givin to me by my sister n a friend, so the only thing i had to buy was the roccks n fish, i put white rocks in it so bb could see the fish better, unfoutunitly so did the coons, this spring i wanna build a screen lid to hopefuly keep the coons out, anyone else have a pond?

Sure don't. You got a good looking one there. The point of the coons, how about a live trap with a can of shrimp hung in there. Just use a beer open and put a few small holes in it. Small enough so they can't get the shrimp out. A friend has one and I am supposed to install it. So Phriends anybody know what I'm supposed to do with it?

thanks i like how it turned out, the tractor wagon had a flat, i carried all that dirt down with 5 gal buckets, thats in the corner of the bottom yard, i planted shrubs to inclose it, i have other old wood hallow logs n plants on one side n im putting in some on the other. were i work they dug up all the dead hedges n i took em home n water pressured em n stained em, now i gotta do something with em on the other side, i also have gnomes, dragons,n fairys nicknacks, bb loves to play with em. i live right near the gamelands, woods ,n fields so id need tons of traps, n the only place to free the coons is in the gamelands pluse my hubs likes to sit on the porch at night n feed em i think a lid is my best bet. that way im not fightin with nature n my hubs. i know id loose. bb realy loves the fish so ill think of somthing i could use maybe chicken wire, or some sort of fencing to make a lid out of. n heres my lil pond im still workin on. its up in the front yard

A friend of mine has a little one thats just a hole dug with lining put in. He has some rocks in the center. Theres enough so his fishies can hide from the raccoons. They do get some but not all.

Christy said:Yes, but not to match what you have there. In fact, not much to look at all but a muddy ol hole that the ducks play around in. Nice job on your pond.

We have a two tiered liner that we want to use for a "duck" pond, and also an old(cast iron) bathtub that our neighbor gave us. Hopefully we can get them both up and going by next year.

We don't have a pound here at the house, but are planing in the next few weeks to have some kind of water thing. Maybe a water fall or something. Wife hasn't told me yet. we do how ever have a pond at the farm. We use it for fishing and to water our crops in the summer. The farm pond.

Christy, I like the wood around your pond. It looks really earthy and cool. How did you ever think of using the wood. And the flowers add the just right touch. CF

holy cow CF! i would love to have your pond! now thats a real pond! i love it it beauitful! thanks CF ive always used wood, bacicaly cause im poor n its free i could never aford the fancy stuff, so i just get creative with what i have, becides the natural look is more me than a fancy look would be years ago i started out with hallow logs for planters at my moms old farm house n i cut logs into stepping stones with the chainsaw, n used scrap pices of wood to line the flowerbeds, wich turned into makin beds from wood, hub n the guys use to cut a bunch of fire wood for mom so i got to use the wood they didnt want also when i was a lil girl my aunt would tell us storys bout lepercons n pixies n faries n stuff, i use to imagin a hole world of em, n of corse their world would be made of natchure, so when i think about it, my aunt n her storys realy gave me the idea

Christy, money does not make one rich. Rich is being able to relive the memories. Rich is being able to retell the story you just did. I know lots of people that have money but they are not rich, They have no memories to share. Anyway I love your style, and your Pond. CF

I have a spot on my hill thats always wet. I may play around with it and see if i can build a 'basin near the bottom of it to catch some of the run off. Maybe start with it as a birdbath/chipmunk waterer and see how it goes. If it works well I'll probably make it bigger in time. I live across from a stream so I always have the sound of running water.
Ya know I'm thinging if you put a cinder block on its side in the bottom, or 2 side by side that might be deep enough to make a hidey spot for the fish.

Any thoughts, we are redoing our yard. There will be a pond or small water fall. Where it needs to be there is no power for a pump. Yes I could run power out there but would be costly. And a lot of work. Anyone using any solar pumps. I know they are out there but have never used one. CF

Christy, what kind of vine are you going to plant. We have one here (grows wild) we call it a wood vine. Much like a honeysuckle but bright red. Wish I knew what its true name was. You got it looking good, all you need is some warm weather. I have given up on the solar pump, guess we will do something else. CF

Christy I have a baby virginia creeper vine you can have if you want. It doesnt flower. Google it & decide. If you plant it near a tree it will climb the tree if you ont keep after it. Or did you want something that blooms?

Christy- you have been working hard, and the results show it- looking great!! I love all your gnomes and "yard art"!! Doug won't let me have more than a couple things in the yard.... he's an old fuddy-duddy and thinks we should have more "formal" type gardens. drives my nuts- I do the work and he tells me what I can do?? grrrr Anyway- GREAT JOB CHRISTY & BB!!!

thanks my hubs wouldnt ever tell me what i could or couldnt do in the yard, that would be like me tellin him what he could or couldnt do with his bikes lol he just mows around everything. my lil shade areas the only place i have lots of decor, me n bb's play area lol. when the flowers/plants grow in the most ofthe decor blends in, the rest of the yard is just flower beds, a bit of a formal mess.
