Just wondering if anyone is growing any cacti indoors? Cacti love to spend the summers outdoors. They are so easy to care for, and thrive on neglect!
The first picture is of a cactus that was only 4 inches high when I brought it home - 5 years ago! It has spent 2 summers outside. The one branch, formed in the second year, due to all my fertilizing.
The second pic is of a cactus that was also 4-5 inches high, when I got it 3 years ago! It is really quite something now.
Anyone else love cacti? Love to see your pics too...

I have a great love for cacti, but no more room to get any more I have pics of mine Here I had a carrion cacti, but it got killed off by the cold(I didn't have room in the house for it this winter) and I need to get pics of my Ice Plant. I love them. they are outside in a pot and I don't even water them.... they are multiplying like guppies. If I had the room- I would have TONS more of them. I also have another one, but it is hurting right now. I got it from a friend and am trying to get it to grow.....and so far failing miserably. I'll try to get pics soon! It resembles the last pic you have here, but is only about 3 inches tall. Any suggestions?

Yes, I like cacti too - I want to get some more this year. Another succulent that is very pretty and extremely easy to grow is "string of beads" - here's a couple pics of mine...
As far as your cactus that you are trying to nurse back to health - is it really sickly looking? If so, keep it out of direct sun - just bright diffused light will be good enough until it starts growing again. Moisten the soil for it, but not soggy and wet. Do not fertilize a sick plant! Remove any dead leaves, branches, tissue, etc. Keep the plant warm. Then, wait patiently, and see what happens....

I love that one! Wish I had more windows to put one in as a hanging plant! I will keep my eyes open. One day I am going to have a house big enough to have LOADS and LOADS of plants!! The one I have was a baby of another plant and it is just now getting some real roots. It is going to perk up eventually... just takes time

Oh I'm so glad that you like it! I have two in hanging baskets, actually - I got them from the local grocery store nursery for about $6.00 each! The 'strings' can be cut and rooted to make new plants, which I have been doing.
I wish you good luck finding this plant too. I didn't even know it existed, and came across it by chance! I love it too.

Very strange, but I woke up a few mornings ago, to find this...
...had gone 'arse over kettle' overnight, and fell from on top of the bookshelf it's lived on for the last three years! It cracked right in half!
What made it so strange is that it's never fallen in three years from that spot! Why now? Unless I have a ghost, I just can't figure it out. Very weird indeed.
My poor, poor cactus had to say goodnight! Weird still, that I posted this pic just a short time ago, not knowing it would be dead in a couple of weeks!

So sorry to hear your poor cactus took a tumble! Are you sure it is a goner or can you salvage some of it??

Yup - it's a goner! I threw it out right after I discovered it! It was so badly damaged - just destroyed! I couldn't believe it. Thanks for your comments though Botesbabe.
Guess it's just the excuse I needed to go buy another...I miss my old one though and would rather have it back. It takes a long time to get them that big and tall. Accidents happen, but it was just weird, that's all.

I'll try to take a good pic of my christmas cactus and post it soon. It is in bloom now and was left to us by the previous owner of this house. I believe its namer is charlotte. You have some really beautiful cacti there, sorry to hear of the one's recent demise but you will come up with a new and better one I am sure.

Thank you for your kind words notherdigger! Yes, I am going to get another one very shortly - I hate seeing a bare spot where the old one used to be!
Oh I'd just love to see your Christmas cactus in bloom! I have a white one, and it's blooming too! Here is a pic of it, but this one was taken in December. It's been blooming all winter, and is still!

Thank you HBL. It is huge but the pic doesn't do it justice, it is about three feetwide and two feet front to back and too heavy for me to pick it up. I scoot it along cept for getting it in the air to put in that bin so water is contained. On another note, I saw a yellow one at a store the other day but didn't have the money or the means to transport it home at the time. I would of liked to have had one of those as well but smaller lol. There is no substitute for actually being "there" with these or any beautiful plants. Have a nice day all.

Notherdigger:
Would you be interested in me sending you cuttings from my white variety above? The cuttings root extremely easily, and you will have a new color! I can't use anymore plants myself, but let me know if you would want the white kind too...
