I was given a Baker Creek catalog by a friend, it'a the only one I've got. It's evil, I haven't put it down! And now it's mysteriously collecting all these strange blue marks from my sharpi pen....

Jerseycub, you might want to check out Tomato bob.com and one I found really reasonable last year was Heirloom Acres.com. I have heard some complain they were slow sending out orders but I ordered and got seed right away and for dirt cheap too. And lots of heirloom stuff as well. Tomato Bob just had a sale for $600 worth of seed for $98 for a family of four plus 50% more but unfortunately it ended on Dec. 1st. (His words) Baker creek is tops too I know from experience. Another excellent choice for all heirloom seed is SSE.com. You should order their calalog for sure.

The seeds that I do buy are from Seed Savers exchange, Territorial Seed, and Totally Tomato. I did buy been seeds from Vermont bean last season, but since have decided to purchase my been seeds from SSE to keep my seeds organic. I am much more conscious about getting organic seeds more then ever, and I do not want to support Monsanto. Thanks Phil I will read the info on the site you have provided for us. We should all strive to keep our gardens organic if we aren't already.

Yeah I'm trying to just stop doing any kind of business with "Big business". Sometimes it's hard to find things at small independent stores, but I feel better about buying from somebody trying to make a living, not enslave the workforce or take over the world.

Thanks Phil for the link. Very interesting. Legal or not to save seed, I will not stop now or never. That is another reason why we swap seeds. Anything to stop the Monsanto's of the world, an their GMO seeds.

I must say that I have noticed plant patent information from time to time on garden centre labels in the UK but I think that the main thrust is that they don't want you to propagate and sell plants from the protected stock given that it would be virtually impossible to monitor seeds swaps etc. By the way, Thompson & Morgan is one of the larger seed companies in the UK and they also have a North American operation... www.tmseeds.com/Does anyone use them?
