I'm not sure if this would be the proper place to post this topic but it is a great garden tool. Recently I purchased a CobraHead for weeding in the garden around the onions and garlic, after both Ruth and I have used this tool we are both amazed on how great it works and easy to use. The owner of this company who I have communicated with is very helpful and willing to please his customers. I called to ask if there was a larger head that I might be able to purchase, he informed me that there wasn't but if I would send him a drawing of what I'm looking for he would see if it would be feasible to make one for me. Well long story short I e-mailed him a sketch and he made one...sent it to me free of charge and said try it and let him know how I felt it worked. The new head is even better then I could have expected and now he has offered to make another that he felt would be better made. I was so please I purchased another short handle tool. If you go to www.cobrahead.com you can see the tools I am talking about. I think the long handle tool is great that is the one Ruth and I have used.

I bookmarked it.That is the kind of person I want to do business with. LOL,the video reminds me of that Chinese Army shovel 9 minute video ad that did everything, cut down trees, grappling hook, shield, wire cutter, jar opener, latrine digger,WOK (EEEEWW!!!!) And the Chinese army guys digging at a pace like their lives depended on it and it probably did LOL ,while they dug a hole to....well, you get the point. LOL,chopping veggies, the guy in the car fighting off the attacker with it,instead of just driving away, the patriotic music.... www.youtube.com/watch?v=b60OZhrTB6o

Well spuds this tool is made in the USA by Americans who care and it is intended to be used as it was constructed for one purpose in mind. But that other thing is very entertaining

I've seen those, never tried one, but can see some practical use for it, I use a old paddle type hoe, with a MUCH-to short handle for my old back...But that's just for the large areas...sometimes... Now when I get on a roll and don't wanna stop...I use a hoe ...like this one on every square inch of the garden.. Mine is not this brand, but has a handle that is 4 inches shorter than I am tall...and I can easily hoe standing upright!! Attachments:

JC: Looks like that tool could be very handy and do the job. But..... the handle seems a might bit expensive. I would think that a regular hoe handle would work, and cost a lot less.

Spuds if things keep going the way they are we may not have to imagine the horde of Chinese, it will be reality!! Yes the handle is a bit expensive but from working with it and seeing the construction I understand why it's made that way, for better balance....and believe me it will last a lifetime. I'm starting to sound like a salesman really I just wanted to share my experience with those of you that garden because I felt this tool was as good as it was advertised to be. I also bought the short handled one for more close work. As soon as I get some word from the owner of cobrahead spuds Ill let ya know also Ill take a picture of mine so you can see the change.

I took these two pictures of the tool heads for the cobrahead today. This is the head that comes with the tool and this is the one I had made for me. As you can see it has a longer cutting edge, it works well and cuts threw the soil very well.

I haven't tried that we use a pitch fork to loosen the soil and then just pull the bulbs with the top stems. Tedious but it works well, and there is much less chance of damaging the bulbs.

Gidday
The shape of that tool has been gnawing on me old mind as if I have seen it before. Today I called into an old junk shop to have a look and yes, it is extremely similar to a very old tool used out here, but these ones were on a long handle and usually had two or three of them on the end. I did a bit of digging further into the pile of junk,(old tools) and I struck gold.
Well rust anyway cos I found one that actually has 5 tools on it, sos I can take two off it to use singularly and still have one set up with three on the long handle. As these things are probably as old or older than me and I am an old aged pensioner I don't know how long the wooden handle will last.
But hey, I aint complaining, I got the tool with the five fingers on it sos I can have two single ones like yours and still have one with three fingers on and only paid 15 bucks. And that is our Kiwi dollars what are a lot cheaper than yours.
Beauty Eh!

Jack: Keep in mind that I use it as a scalping hoe mainly and the only time I use it at the pointed end is to loosen the harder soil or weeds that are big and well rooted.
I have tools similar to what you are describing that we would use as a small cultivator, but now since I have my tractor to cultivate it is much faster and covers a lot more ground, so what I miss between the plants I can get at with this tool.

Gidday Jack: Keep in mind that I use it as a scalping hoe mainly and the only time I use it at the pointed end is to loosen the harder soil or weeds that are big and well rooted. The thing about this tool that I have just gotten, is that each individual tyne looks identical to the one in your photo and they are bolted on to the handle with little clamps, sos I can take some off or adjust or whatever without damagig anything. Actuall I tried to scratch at a few weeds in my garden today, I do have quite a few to try on, and I found it to be so abso-bloody-lutely brilliant that I reckon I am going to get another one to take to pieces to get the single one like you showed. Iffin I remember I will have a go at a photo Phil

Gidday Here are some photos of what I have gotten. I gave the single one a try but it will definately need a handle so I have been thinking I could use a half inch pipe and using the same little bolts.
