Well it is that time of year again where I will be looking through my seeds to see what I have. And it ain't just maters and punkins it is everything.Getting prepared and getting ready just in case I can send out a seed order or three.Heck it will take me a while just to get past tomatoes and peppers Kevin

Um Rita, I just went through my tomatoes and if I had one plant of each I might be able to squeeze them in.I have at this time over 100 varieties which is more than what Burpee or Park list in their catalog. 1 packet of Green Zebra I have I am sure has 100+ seeds. And I have 3 packets of German Johnson. Gonna be interesting to choose what to grow. Everything I grew in 2009 will be back.Only had five back then. With this years varieties it gets a little harder. The must have back again so far Will be Rose,Black Krim,Siletz ( My oldest niece loved them) and a black that was labeled Black from Tula but ain't which turned out to be a tremendous producer of tasty Campari size blacks everyone loved. One thing I do like about Siletz is it is a space saver. The thing I had trouble with with them is they had a tendency to crack.Nice flavor though.Stump of the World did not do bad ether and did produce some real whoppers this year as did Earl's Faux which I seemingly need seeds for if I am to have them.Should have some fine stuff next year. Oh yes I am still trying to lay my hands on some Al-Kuffa seeds and am hoping to have all four Iraqi tomatoes that Baker Creek list next year.Already have Rouge D' Irak so that leaves Al-Kuffa and the other two.I love planing for the next season Kevin

I need to sort my seeds too and see what I have and what I need if any. Several I would like. Hot bell pepper and one squash I see listed but not worth order for a package to me. I can live with out them. There was an old turnip I wanted to try. I really am not too fond of turnips but good in soups and I have a fish soup I like that calls for turnip. Too high here to buy and some time woody at that.
I divided up my tomato seeds for Red tomatoes, long tomatoes, small tomatoes, colored tomatoes, early tomatoes red. Ping pong sizr. I had to break it down to that and I guess may not make sense to others. I use gallon zips for eack type and then each variety is package or sandwich bags or snack backs. Must be better way but this is it. Peppers, sweet in one hot in the other zip gallon bag. Yeah I use a lot of bags and I save seed. Bags will last for years.
I think I may have to divide up a bit more on root crops. Tray in one box holds the seeds that need to start plants for. I need to see if I have to divide up more on things. Easier for me to plant having them sorted. I have been buying in bulk some things at the seed house. Much cheaper. Gives me the basic stuff.

I did however enjoy on the most part the orange "golden queen" and the Big rainbow tomato's this year .. I was not impressed by quite a few that I Chose to grow this last season .. For Reds I really liked the Kellogg breakfast .. your gonna get carpal tunnel from typing your list

Kevin, you sure have a big bunch of tomatoes. I would guess I have 30 to 40 kinds. I will grow mostly Better Boy and Early Girl. I like different shapes and colors. It seems one year a tomato will do good and next not. First year for black cherry never made it and next year had lots of them. Same seed package. How do you divide or sort the tomato seed to find what you want.?

We planted by mistake way too many Peach Blow Sutton seeds & wouldn't you know it they did awesome this year due to the heat.. several years we have planted them & they did terrible.

I was told by a master gardener it was best to plant more kinds and not depend on one kind to make it. One year they would not ripe, the Better Boy. Others had the same problem of the tomatoes did not want to ripen. I had several varieties that did. I stopped at seed house and she said sure not a tomato year. Other parts of the valley too had it. But Better Boy has held up better for me then others. We get curly top virus here some years. Use to never have that. County guy says plant more than you want to try and get a stand of them.

Yep I do have lots of em that's for sure.As far as choosing which ones to grow I like to go with what has done best for me first and then choose some new ones.Out of the big ones the one that did best over all was Rose.I had about four plants and they went nuts. There are several in my collection that are well known that I have not grown like German Johnson and Omar's that I want to try.I also want to try Stone which is said to be a more compact plant. Also Will give Cherokee Green for the first time next year.I have never grown a GWR so this one is a whole new venture for me. I should have some monsters again next year. Stump of the world and Earl's Faux while not as good in production as Rose did have some darn nice big fruit on them.
Also gonna be trying Ali Baba watermelon and Sweet Freckles which is a hard to find melon which is if I recall a type of crenshaw. Also getting back to tomatoes I am likely to have Celebrity and Better Boy back as someone sent me seeds for them. For the hybrids these two have been really good producers.I will keep you all posted.

I still have seeds to process. I had them frozen and have gotten as far as thawing and now my bride is complaining about the smell so I have to get going. Then I can update my seed list. Kellogg's Breakfast is orange/yellow as far as I know. They are a great tomato no matter the color. Tom
