I grow snow peas in a raised bed intesive method. Now I am thinking I would like to grow shell peas. How many feet of plants in a regular row would I need to plant to get a good quart of shelled peas each harvest for freezing? what is the best variety to grow? If I wanted this for a fall crop when could I plant them. Apreciate any help I can get here.

I love snow peas !! I have ordered pink purple hull seeds. I think is a regular pea. Haven't got them yet but I am told they freeze well. There were sooo many to choose from and I have never planted but wanted to try. A friend in AL told me to get those. But there are probably others that freeze well too. Thought I would do some snow peas this fall.

Plant Your peas in Late summer for a really nice fall crop. Be sure to maintain their water requirements, about an inch per 5 days, for that time of the year, and an Old rule of thumb is, a 12 foot row per person...More if you want to have peas put up till pea season next year. Snow peas, sugar snap are good choices for fall crops, but regular Ol' garden peas do great too. I like Green Arrow, Nice green peas, and about 11-12 peas per shell!!
