Pick one source from each category. The results will vary in composition from 1-2-1 to 4-6-3, but any mixture will provide a balanced supply of nutrients that will be steadily available to plants and encourage soil microorganisms.
Nitrogen 2 parts blood meal 3 parts fish meal
Phosporous 3 parts bone meal 6 parts rock phosphate or colloidal phosphate
Potassium 1 part kelp meal 6 parts greensand

What do you do if you have too much nitrogen in soil??? ST, thats a different question, usually asked How to get More N. How muuch time do you have before you plant your garden. Adequate time would allow you to add sawdust, dry leaves, or other high-carbon materials, and let it rain like H*** for a couple months. just like it does in your compost pile, The high carbon will deplette the N. as for a "quick" solution...I will have to research. C'mon Phorm pharmers, got any solutions for ST?

It may not be urgent....Last year the garden grew up and smothered everything. ( I was working to much to care for it. So it is a mess right now. The year before The yellow squash plant was huge, ( a dog could lay under it easily) got a very few squash, same thing with the zuccinni. The tomatoes were laying all over everywhere ( drunk looking ) I was scared to get in there they sprawled everywhere. These stupid gourds I planted covered EVERYTHING, all up the okra and corn, just every where....but it made gourds. The okra did very well, couldn't keep up with it, was so tall I had to bend it over to pick, and tomates made till frost. And I got one sugar pumpkin. So this year I am not sure what to expect. I have not fertilized or anything for 2 years, would it be more on balance now ....?

I thought about that after I posted (DUH). I would hate to get a lot of lush growth again but no produce.

There's only one thing I would do if I ever found myself with too much N, I'd plant it all in corn. Sweet corn, popcorn, colored decorative corn, any corn. Corn loves Nitrogen.

The critters get my corn everytime I plant. I put out strawberry corn, The blue corn and indian corn and might get an ear for seeds for the next year. The creek is about an acre away and the bottoms, then the back yard , so I have lots of coons and possums. The other nite 5 deer ran across the drive as I was coming down, ( which I love to see the deer) But everything out here loves for me to plant corn. I wondered if I put out a lot of "heavy feeders" like tomatoes and onions and the like if it would help. But this year it might be ok. It really had nothing in it last year. But I did order corn seed and still have the other corn seed.
