Maybe it's all the same.... anyway, I had a barrel of leaves left from last fall that I forgot I had and this Spring when I dumped them, they were conformed to the shape of the (plastic) barrel and there was mold on the bottom part of them. It that detrimental? Should I avoid using those in my compost???

they had just begun to break down, if it makes ya feel better, let them air dry first, but I'd just add em to the compost. I have composted leaves in black garbage bags over winter, they are ugly and smelly come spring, but are very good components.

Good to hear! Thank you. I didn't know if there might be some harmful spore or something non-organic because of the plastic barrel...
