What's the first thing that you plant in the Spring, besides your hands that is Mine would be radishes, wifey loves them and I nned to plant something that shows green in a hurry.

I always plant radish and carrots together in wide beds. Closest to the door. It lets me and very short people thin them (and eat them in situ). Worked for my children, I expect it to work with grandchild just as well.
Very fast reward to labor ratio. Weeding for a 'later' eat is incomprehencible to small children.

Usually peas, then cole crops, lettuce, beets,radishes,,,,,,etc.

CF, did ya lose yer Camera Great Bro, glad yer seasons off... we'll start our onions in the basement under lights in about 2 weeks... Peas, I try to put them in as soon as the snow melts back from the pea fence enough to work up the top couple inches of soil
