Has anyone here used this thing and care to share your success or failure with it?

Cute, but not effective as a way to grow MORE tomatoes. I compare is to the "Potatoes in a tire" thing, too much trouble but great conversation piece for those who haven't seen it, big yawn for most.

I agree with Mo and X, these were meant as a novelty item, sure, you can get a tomato or two from them, provided you use a determinate variety, indeterminates just look like HELL in them... I figure God menat for roots to grow DOWN...and never bought one..Years back, I had a friend who did the same thing, WITH GREATER SUCCESS..inverting and hanging a 5 gallon bucket from his clothes line cross bar @ Mo...yeah, I fell prey to the "tators in a tire" thang a LONG time back...had a fair crop, purty tators... All I can say is...if you ever do this...put screen under the bottom tire...I said I Had a fair crop... Mice like the Idea of a Hi-rise apartment..WITH CAFE..to live and dine in... the other thing about the tires was...Now WT^&%$%# was I gonna do with all those tires

truck tires work great for herbs like mints I have a couple that i use for exclusively lettuces. I cover them in the summer with a black plastic tent sorta constant shade makes great lettuce beds
