Does the tomato trick work with peppers? Peters specifically. The 'trick' being if the seedling gets leggy, bury the stem up to the first set of leaves and the stem wont rot/ will send out more rootage.

Wrennie, we have never tried this with peppers..or at least intentionally, we had some problems one year with the soil compacting following some very heavy rains. we loosened the soil, and did build soil up past the point where they were originally set out at, to hold them upright... They did put out small root "knobs" along the stem, and they eventually developed into roots... I cannot say that this will work in their pots or not
I have heard others say that they have done it, with no problem,
I'd say if they are leggy, go for it... but not to plant them all the way to the top set of leaves like you would a tomato plant, and make sure that they drain well...all should be fine

It never worked (for me) with peppers as well as it did with tomato. But it does sorta' work.
Tomato likes being burried (or trenched).

Could you put the rooting hormone around the area that you want to bury? I never had any luck with that stuff but assume it is me. But that is what it does right?

It works fair for me. I have done it several times over the years. Like Phil said don't plant them as deep as you would a mater. Jay

Ima agree with phil and elk, worked for me but I didn't bury them but like half way up the stem.

There Ya go Wrennie, a good bunch of advice Michael, rooting compound just might work, never gave it a thought, I would make sure though that any part of the stem covered with the compound be buried, I have read that the compound left exposed can harmful, no documentation to back this up though... GOOD LUCK WRENNIE...but if this doesn't work fer ya and if they are leggy, prop em' up...
