Diesel is 4.10 a gal here. Bread prices seem to be holding, but one of my favorite fruit jams went UP .50 a jar this year.... for a 10oz jar.
We're hoping to go over to my wife's parent's place to pick some raspberries this year in order to make our own. I just don't like all the sugar. But I haven't found the real concentrated pear juice yet that a lot of the more natural store bought jams seem to have as a sweetener (in lieu of sugar). We'll see. Wonder if I could make my own pear concentrate. I've got a buddy that's got oodles of pears that just rot on the ground every year. He's got like 4 trees.

NFG...I just mentioned to Phil about phinding some fruit. I Love making chunky applesauce. It was Grand champion last year at the fair.. I also found pears 2 year's ago. The man was giving them away. I took as many as I could without being a pig. They too were a ribbon winner in the fair. We had a jar of them tonight. What kind of jam or jelly do you like? We pick Raspberries here in the ditch line. I had to stop the farmer last year who was trimming the ditches..he was going to mow them down. I drove the car directly in front of the tractor to stop him & we had a great harvest of them. I make jelly out of them. Plus we have mint jelly & grape jelly. The damn county sprayed the grapes last year & we got NONE!!! Also make apple butter. Crock pot method. It smells wonderful. I bet your young uns would like it. Sorry I got carried away. The gas is $ 3.75 Diesel is $ 4.08

Hya Phil! I'd say my favs are Red Raspberry and Black Raspberry. (I'm a simple man). We also loooove apple butter. We bought some Amish stuff a couple years back.... that stuff was da bomb!!!! We cooked up a couple jars of pears last year. My wife hardly had to sweeten them at all...man they were good. Hoping I might be able to get some more and cook them down far enough to make a concentrate so that we can use that as a sweetener in some raspberry jam. We'll see. Do u have an online store where ya sell your apple butter and jams? Oh!.... I also just recalled a trip the other year to our friend's house in the north woods of Wisconsin. BEAUTIFUL country. Right on a river. My son and I went for a walk in the woods and we found ourselves along a path where to the left, to the right, and up ahead, as far as we could see....wild raspberries, as ripe as can be. My jaw about dropped. Then I thought...."Hmm....I think bears like raspberries.....Son...it's time to go!"

There's talk of it going up to $6.00 per gallon, with oil at $300.00 a barrel!
If that happens, I won't be going far.

Gas mid-grade is $3.72 and reg be .10 or .12 cents cheaper. Gas station where I buy has closed. Mavrick went across from it. Still a gas station up town yet and the farm store on out. I quit driving a lot when gas went over $4 before.
Shredded wheat cereal went for $1.88 to $2.39 . Krogers brand other is higher yet. Light blubs came up from 4/88 to 4/$1.19. Milk is up and bread.

Dont get much discretion on driving ,its work or not work, thats the choices here.
44 oz for 7.59 Yuban at Costco in Sept,got 12 of em!Works out to 2.76/pound .Went back and got 12 more,shoulda got more,about 10.50 now.Thats up 40% in 7 months.
Diesel at 4.29 yesterday,in sept it was 3.40.Seeing up to 4.69,so the 5 dollar fear, its just around the corner.Up over 25-30%.In seven months.
Remember, there is no inflation, just dont buy food or use energy.
