Thanks for the good luck wishes ......and yep, i'm usein the 30-30......as far as how long the season is.....i don't really know, but for me, it will be until i get one or get tired of huntin Hope ya get one bro... deer hunting, here, is good..up north, not that there isn't fair hunting here...just takes way more effort...and a good attitude to handle disappointment... way too much farm land..very little timber land.. here...shotgun with slugs..ONLY...up north..hi-power rifles are permitted 1st. You get your deer tag...here, you have to apply for an antlerless permit...and You may not get one then, you have to find a landowner..one that has something that's not open fields then...you sit and wait for dawn... Bang..POP..POW...if..one of those sounds was NOT your shot... chances are you are done for the day and possibly the season...deers win... you either sit and freeze to death hoping/waiting (deer season temperatures in Minnesota can be VERY, VERY cold) or you resort to something I NEVER EVEN HEARD OF...till I moved here...and that's you Flush em' out (4-5 men, walking abreast 20-30 yards apart...two teams..working towards each other) Back where I lived in Mo.... You and your buddies load up your hi-power rifles... Make one stop... at this stop you purchase: deer permit ammunition food beer liquor even a firearm ifin ya need one.. Proceed to deer camp Get silly drunk... wake up @4 a.m. Baileys and coffee wakes you up..sorta.. You wander through the twilight to your stand First crack of dawn... there he is..majestic..Big .. and in your sights.. Bang.. Games over...back to camp.. call wife..tell her ..No Luck Yet honey..I just know that I will get one in the morning and the rest of the weekend you sit around the campfire and party...

When we lived on the farm, Hubs walked out the back door first light of the first day of hunting season. Looked across the driveway at Bucky and wished him a good morning with a crack of the 30/30. I think that the was easiest kill he ever had, and the last one!
