After you posted this bro, We saw the story on TV, it was a very good interview... I do know some states you would go to jail, at least overnight... Here...you can shoot to protect...it's the "make My Day" law... but all that "messy" paperwork

Yes we saw that last evening on the local news also caveman. Ruth said. "hell if I would call 911, I would shoot first and then call 911"
That is a dam shame that young lady just lost her husband to cancer and these AH try to brake in on her. Well she had the final word......good fer her she is my kind of girl too bro.

I hope I never get put in the position of having to protect my family in the way she did. I agree that there's nothing more dangerous than a mother (or father) who get forced into protecting their children.
My "personal" feelings are that life is precious. It's sad that the intruder chose what he chose...forcing the mother to do what she did. I really feel for her... and the intruder's family. Hopefully his buddy will turn around and change his ways before its too late.
Regarding the going to jail thing overnight for shooting a dangerous intruder... I've been told that if the police were to hear from you that you are having a medical problem, perhaps... "chest pains," that you would spend the night in a hospital bed instead of a cell. I can't confirm whether or not that's true... just what I was told.

Just goes to show how criminals prey on those who have lost their loved ones. What a horrible ordeal for Ms. McKinley. I'm pleased to see that OKC police condone her actions to protect her child and herself!

I feel everyone should have that right in there home, however the Castle doctrine is only legal in a few states and NJ isn't one of them. That doesn't mean I won't protect my family no matter what!!!!

In her interview last night she said she would do it again if she had to so I think the emotion for her to protect her child far out weighed her feelings on what she had done. I'm sure she is quite upset about killing someone but under the circumstances she would do it again. It's what we have to do when it's self preservation. All life is precious it just boils down to whose life comes first in that situation. I'm sure she will be just fine.

In light of what happened to his partner in crime he would be wise to stay far away from that young lady. The thing that bothers me is, there has already been cases were accomplices in crimes such as this one have been prosecuted for murder, he was an accomplice......why set bail? I agree Phil she should have taken both of them out!

I agree, she should have taken them both out. Glad to hear she didn't miss. That judge needs to be examined. He was wrong in allowing bail. That person should have been put in solitary, forgotten about, and the key thrown away. After a couple of months, when his dead body is stinking up up the jail, get a HAZMAT crew to clean up the mess. By allowing bail, he is free to try again. Maybe next time, she can be 2 for 2.

I must be quite honest .. this situation continues to totally piss me off .. I generally don't have feelings like this nor if I do do I post them .. NOW this poor VERY young Widowed lady will have to worry about this loser coming back for revenge ? Is she safe ? is her little child safe? did they confiscate the weapons? will she be able to protect herself? I am sure this very young lady has a lot of anxiety going on now due to this Bail!! What the heck are they thinking? I am sure the hands are tied to an extent by laws but I would think there would of been something to keep him in longer ... here they will set a super high bail to where its almost impossible to get someone out

I think in this case the "Three S" principle should be applied, and vigorously! "Shoot, Shovel, and Shutup"......Those AH who invade ANYone's home should be dealt with directly.....Our condolences for the loss of her husband....our appreciation for her actions in defending her family....

That's my principle. No one says anything, it didn't happen. Just make sure you dig a deep hole, so the critters don't go digging up the body.
