did your insurance change? Dang brother, that's a big hike! I went to pick up a tube of special ointment that the doc prescribed for our lil girl like a year ago. I got to the window and they said it was like $500 or something crazy like that...for a little tube. I told them to keep it. Our scripts went up a touch but our insurance changed - they keep hiking the rates every year... and we ain't talkin' like 5% or 7%. More like 23%! I honestly don't know of any other industry out there that can continuously make those double digit hikes each year. Crazy! Hope you can get the meds you need bro.

Yes, one of my generic meds went from $56 to almost $176 a bottle...fenoprofen calcium (Nalfon)...for arthritis...I can't afford it...taking OTC pain relief meds..what makes me soooooo mad, they force us to pay for a medication plan, but they won't pay hardly anything, plus I think they should refund any $$ they take that we do not use....I could then pay for my meds...this is one of my biggest complaints...OBAMA CARE...they have now stuck us with a big deductable the first of every new year...never had one till last year, told it it was because of the law he had enacted when I called and complained at the pharmacy. And I have to break my BP meds in half, take only if B/P is high...no fun getting old, believe me...

Ohh Man this is no good .. .this is actually why I went off the Medical grid about then also ... Here if you don't have ins they charge you out the nose .. like 800 per person in your home on your taxes . BUT .. If its against your religion ... they can't charge you at all ... THANK YOU MR ROMNEY for the forced health insurance .. I am just fine going to the walk in if I need too .. you have no right telling me what to do .. thank you very much .. the only thing I can suggest is to contact the actual people that make your meds .. they sometimes will help make it more affordable to you

I may be able to find an herbal sup for it Thanks Rita, but i honestly don't remember what it was called. It all happened about a year ago. We took her to the dermatologist for a virus she had which caused her to get a red, bumpy rash. The dermatologist confirmed it was a virus (although I don't remember the name) and said that the stuff she was prescribing was "a little expensive," but it would do the trick. You ain't kiddin' "a little expensive!" We obviously couldn't afford it so we let things take their course and she healed up on her own over the course of about a month or so. We just made sure to keep it protected, kept up on her vits, fresh garlic, etc. Her lil body did all the work on its own. Oh, and my wife just corrected me... the cream was $600, not $500. eeek!!!!! regarding the actual drug costs... my wife and i both used to work for one of the major pharmaceutical companies years ago. I do think many of the drugs could be A LOT cheaper. But I did see first hand why some of them cost so much - mostly due to all the strict regs and hoops they had to jump through with some of their drugs. CRAZY stuff. LOTS of man hours & resources went into all that - otherwise, the FDA would start breaking out the citations...which weren't cheap from what I understand. Crazy stuff! LOTS of red tape. But i do think that the medical insurance industry is in need of some MAJOR reform.

Bro - being a veteran, you are entitled to discounted (or even free) meds from the VA - I know - they're a pain in the butt to deal with, but without them footing the bill for my meds, I'd be a dead duck (or at least a VERY sick one). I don't have sufficient income have to pay the copay (usually $7 per prescription), so I get my meds for free thanks to getting the "Aid & Attendance Pension" from the VA. Something to think about, Bro....

Ya'll need to take the costco or walmart generic lists to your Dr and tell him/her to prescribe what they can from the list.Bp for sure can be done very cheaply, you DONT need the latest greatest fot that.
Its what Ive done.I get most my meds cheaper than the others WITH the insurance co pay.

A friend of mine is a vet , he was not using is vet's ins. and was about in the same predicament , finally his nephew helped him thru the "Red Tape" so to speak and he has the world off his shoulders now. If you are a vet you really should take advantage of what they offer you.

AMEN - I currently have (at last count) twenty prescriptions - this includes syringes, alcohol wipes, lancets, diabetic test strips and other supplies for COPD and neuropathy - not counting my actual medicines - everything totalled up would probably exceed $500.00 monthly. No way in the world I could afford these out of pocket!!!! The VA has a somewhat simple form you fill out with different categories - of course service connected problems have 1st priority, and it goes from there. Copay is approximately $7 per prescription, and it is based on income. If you are on a VA pension, or don't make enough money otherwise, you have NO copay....They usually provide a 90 day supply of meds at a time (with exception of narcotics), they're mailed straight to your door, you can request refills in person, online or by telephone. Definitely a blessing in my case!

In my eyes , it is there for a reason! So use it right? Our next door neighbor (Rest his Soul) got a ticket for driving up to his mail box to get his mail. The man was 89 years old. I found out that if you use a handicapped sticker or if you get a note from your dr. you can have your mailbox moved up closer to your house. It didn't take him a week and he had my husband puttin up a post by his house so he didn't have to walk all the way to the box. Mind you tho the postal worker has to have a turnaround in the drive, I told this to my other friend that is a vet and has COPD and then he put his pot box by his house. The state will also have someone come out to your house and mow your lawn. and do some other stuff also.. Not sure where thats from, may not be the state, regardless , it is available ........there is help out there , you just have to be able to find it

I had forgotten about the mailbox relocation - we had ours done (we have a LARGE back yard with a turnaround - our driveway's almost the length of a football field. Got the mailbox moved right up next to the end of the handicapped ramp off the front porch. Definitely saves wear & tear on the lungs/heart, etc.....
