You can go to Rodails site at www.rodaleinstitute.org/home and take the free course for Organic farming, if anyone is interested in the process and some tips on organic farming as well as record keeping. Since I have been a member here I really don't know how many small scale farmers there are here that would be interested, but I hope it is of some help to those that are interested.

didn't see the mentioned "free" course... Hell JC, You, Compost Pharmer, myself or most the members here can teach anyone about making compost (one of the courses offered) and I don't know about anyone else..but I wouldn't "charge" $265.00

Sorry but I think this is an example of the old expression: "Those who CAN, do. Those who CAN'T, teach." Actual gardening is boring to some folks, but taking money for BS-ing about it is just more their style, lol.

I only paid $20 plus 20 hours of volunteer time for my Master Compost Certification. Why would anyone want to pay that kind of money to learn how to compost? For my $20, I received the class room materials, a compost thermometer, plus a Shepherds compost bin. The bin alone costs twice the $20.
Don't get me wrong, Rodale is a good institution, for organic farming, either large scale or back yard gardening.
Phil, I couldn't charge, if I was to teach composting. Learning to compost is priceless.

I agree with you guys about free advice, it is in everyone's best interest to educate those that are in need of advice. Rodail has been a good reference for me as I was learning different organic practices, as well as information I have gotten here, and many other resources along the way.....mostly from other farmers that were willing to help. Money for advice is not the best motivator, but it is a fact of life today.

JC, if you have any questions, please ask. That is what this forum is about. To share information, not withhold it. We may not be able able to answer every ones question, but we sure can try. As for composting. I don't know it all, but am willing to ask questions to learn.
Remember that we are all teachers and students. We all learn from each other.

There is a free course on the above mentioned site called the Organic Transition Course. I read the first section of it and it's full of information. There are 7 parts to it.
