I don't see the section of houseplants or flowers anymore. Maybe I am blind.
I have a place on either side of my sidewalk in my apt complex about 6 ft. by 10 ft. and I want to plant some perrnials in honer of my late husband BSCAMO.
I don't want anything to tall except I do want a couple fountain type grasses in the back. Bill and I loved those I planted in WA. I like pinks, orchid, blues, yellows (but not daisys of any kind).
I want it to be very colorful and pleasant to the eyes.
Would prefer mostly bloomers but not all have to be. It faces EAST and gets the morning sun. Now the one one the right does get some afternoon sun on the end of it.
SUggestions please or suggestions too on lay out. I like mine in WA but could never seem to get it just right.
Tulips are pretty as are irises but thery don't last long. I am thinking of most of the summer and fall ones.

Well if you don't want anything tall I guess you don't want the gladiolus I spoke of in the intro thread at the top of the home page. That's ok, I will find a home for them.

Tulips are pretty as are irises but thery don't last long. I am thinking of most of the summer and fall ones. I really like: moonbeam coreopsis (light, airy, green foliage, with small yellow flowers that don't seem to quit). It doesn't get too tall (mine is around 14-16"), but it does like to spread though Or... I also appreciate my daylilies - but that may be a bit tall for what you're looking for. If you got more sun, I'd suggest Sedum Spectabile which has some gorgeous purple-ish pink blooms (in addition to succulent, light green foliage). As far as layout goes, you could put a few of your grasses toward the back, then the coreopsis, then, if you want some blues, you could do an emerald blue (or pinkish/purple) creeping phlox in front of that. Those colors may not flow perfectly together, but if you like them, then i say go for it. That's my motto anyway All the best to you!

Blue grass is small. calundula's are late bloomers n last into late fall. both like sun Calandula's are hardy annuals like hollyhocks they reseed themselfs n come back every year cept hollyhocks are bieannuals. Do you have all sun? any shade? Hostas are great but like mostly shade.

I am going be trying to get hardy flowers in this spring here. Comos are annual. I have some flowers I can get a start of if I can dig them from other place. If the deer do not eat them. I do not know what types grow here. At this point I do not know where how much I can plant. Bare yard at this time. lawn goes in the spring he said. I want a shed put in and I told him hehind his and greenhouse to the north side where it will get sun the best. South side of lot get shade from his sheds and snow stays. North side it melts off. The park by me down there had a few flower beds and seem to have some in bloom all summer. MOney wise I am limited in buying much, I want the shed and get stuff finished moving. House has a walk all the way around it.
I think mums good for fall blooms. Blubs fore early blooms. If I have that acrossthe from next to fence for flowers. I would guess with counting on parking pad and walk I was about 80 feet along the fence. 100 foot wide lot. He will not give me much for bed I am sure. I can not care for a lot anyway. And buying water for that lawn. I may end up with pepper plants.

Yes, I have full sun nearly all day on the west side of my sidewalk. Shade after about 11:00 A.M. on the east side.
So what do you think?
By the way which side would my glad bulbs be best on?
