I would to live in a place like that, overlooking a lake, with about 5 acres of land. No need for heat or air conditioning, and no mortgage.

State, County zoning laws and building codes would keep this a dream

A LARGE loophole in the zoning in the rural counties in Tennessee is that they don't inspect barns, shed or ANY building used for agricultural purposes That's in 2 counties I have lived in, you would still have to check that some other law doesn't allow them to inspect for another reason. Just a hint, ya know. ;D

True and I can't see any way you would be able to do anything like that here .. Laws are way to strict .. But it would be a fun project for the boys

Fabulous house but I don't know how they got planning permission or passed the building regulations. In the UK (where this is) you practically have to sell your soul for any kind of unusual build.
