To make a long story short, Good news is our paper work has gone thru, so we will be moving to a "house" in Iuka MS., which is about 27 miles from our current location! Bad news is we probably won't have much of a garden, if any at all this year, so all the onions and garlic I have planted will stay here ! We have been wanting to get out of this double-wide for a while now, and have finally took the leap to do it! Some good points to the new location are, the wife and I won't have so far to drive to work, lots more room as far as house space is concerned, I will have more garden space (no more need for raised beds), there is a natural spring on the property, it has a brand new metal roof just put on October of last year, just way too many good things to mention! It's a 70's style rock home! The raised garden bed that soon will be new again! The storm/root cellar! The in progress greenhouse! The chicken coop in progress!

Looks like home to me,and yes, do lift your garlic and what ever else you can take with you and replant. We love garlic here in western pennsylvania /we have around a thousand in winter mulch beds. Beautiful snowfall here this morning for blanket layer on garden Good luck and remember to plant and save lots of seed,it is reported that commercial seed production is down by 50 per cent

That looks pretty bloody good.
But what is the big thing that looks like a bomb, is it a gas storage tank? If it is it looks huge to me but everything up there is big Eh!

Jack That thing that looks like a bomb, is the natural gas tank, to run the hot water heater, kitchen stove, furnace, an other appliances on. We'll have to have DLD explain what he will be using the natural gas for.

Well it is what I thought but the size of it amazes me. It must be just compress natural gas and not liquid I guess.

Yep, it's a propane tank, that particular tank at today's rate, takes about 800 bucks to fill, and all it is used for is the heat! The original owner of the house bought the tank outright a while back, but now you can rent them thru the gas company!

sounds just as bad to fill as our oil tank these fuel companies should be ashamed

Jack, don't know how far out of town Dld is...but it's most likely propane in that tank... Country pholks can't get natural gas...out past the pipes end... so ...unless a house has electric...heat with fuel oil..or only wood we have A bomb in our yard...which by the way is exactly what Laura calls it... ifin I had my way it would be a stack of wood in our yard....somewhere south... most of em' is silver...our's is gray... some..paint em' up... (Excuse me Dld for a little diversion here...Jack needs a dose of Americana ) Jack...we have a habit of painting them to suit our likings here in the states... Pholks Homes.. We do have small ones: Corporations sometimes get into the spirit: I like these HUGE wiennies

Hi, I'm still trying to catch up on the threads on here. DLD, I envy you your new home with all it's wonderful out-buildings. My husband would love them all. I also love the posts that show the painted fuel tanks. What a great idea.

Congrats DLD!! Looks like a great place.
And about the gas tank, my cousin in Tn has one and her husband built a "fence/wall" in front of it to hide it.

Hey thanks for the info. Those photo's look like the sorta thing that Kiwi would do.
We have a small 14kg. cylinder that is used for caravans at the back of our house, but it is for lpg, liquid petrolium gas, and it lasts us just under 3 months for the range top cooking and we have electric oven and solar and wood for our hot water.
But that place looks great and I could easily imagine me living there.
But I would have to have somewhere for a few sheep for me home killed mutton though.

Thank Ya Dingbat...didn't wanna go off topic...but thought a look into some of America's backyards would be amusing, and remove any doubts Jack may have about our overall sanity I think DlD needs to paint his to appear that some creature is peeking over the hill

Absolutely beautiful, and the potential is unlimited! Fantastic find, and so happy for you guys!!!! Love the painted propane tanks - haven't seen any like that around here - 99 percent are painted with aluminum paint to help keep down the rust. Our little place here on the prehistoric beach is total electric - we do have several bbq gas grill propane tanks for heat in case of a extended power outage, LOL!
