Sure the computer should be history, when he's shooting it...ohhh and this one is for your mother....Whack job. I saw him shooting his kid with his comments, wrong. Take it away, sure,I would.Destroy it,why not,his property,.....and this shot is for your mother......family issues go deep there. I'll bet my bottom dollar when that daughter leaves home she will break all contact with Dad. You dont discipline with a gun in any formVery poorly handled.Complete IDIOT. He has no business even having a weapon,a loose canon.Anger, get the GUN? ? There's more to this story and Daddy.

Well, i guess he coulda grabed a good old fasion hickory limb and took all the hide off her azz.......that would have worked great also. Yeah, corporal punishment perhaps indicated...why didnt he just take the computer away, what is the message being sent, get mad,get a gun?Piss me off I'll pull out a gun? I wonder how many other times he got pissed and pulled a gun? I missed that advice when I got my guns. I think there are some deep issues/secrets in that family, bet there are going to be others who think so too, state types, stupid move bragging about it on the net too. And he sure was proud of pulling a gun in anger too! Wants the world to see. Nope, somethin' isnt right here......

After thinking about this a little more, I think I'd have to lean a little toward where Spuds is coming from. I mean, at first, this seems like justice done - and its hard not to feel good when justice is done. The kid deserves some sort of response, that's for sure. But he was upset about the way in which his daughter overreacted to having to do chores, and how she chose to vent that on FB. So to respond, he basically does the same thing. Seems like justice done. But... I had to ask myself...where did she learn this behavior from in the first place? (perhaps dear ole dad?) I'm not against spanking (up to a certain age), and I'm certainly not against firearms, that's for sure. But I wonder if the guy would've accomplished his goal by grounding her, taking her computer, and taking the time to explain how badly she hurt them, dishonored them. Shoot... if she's old enough, it may have even been grounds for telling her to find her own place... I dunno. But to basically respond in the same way she did... not sure that's as good as I originally thought. Just my 2 cents. Either way, I respect and love you all. You're all good phrends Peace

mind you I seen this over a week ago .. and keep thinking the same thing .. If you listen to the what the father says before he even reads the letter the girl has done this before and had just gotten over being grounded .. She is at that tough 15 (know I was HELL at that age and everyone Sucked) He Warned her the first time this happend and while fixing her computer I am sure did a bit of snooping as every parent should to make sure their kids are up to doing what they are suppose to be doing ... The father could of hit her he could of grounded her but the grounding didn't seem to work the first time .. and well he didn't hurt her in a physical sense .. He hit her below the belt where it would hurt the worst .. This is on the web on her fb page for all her friends to see . I think the mental public humiliation is the worst form of punishment and well I don't agree with it .. HE could of busted that computer with anything YES but does it really send any different message? If he is going to go that route couldn't a big rock hammer or anything else bring the same message .. suppose he could of done a lot of things differently .. he knows his own kid and maybe this is the only way he thought he would actually get her attention

Its the gun part that got me. I have a huge respect for firearms and was raised to treat it as a tool and in a pinch as self defense against a crazy.
I just spent 2 of the last 3 days on the gun range and cant begin to fathom such irresponsible action or thought with a weapon, nor did I see ANYTHING resembling juvenile behavior with a weapon there. I did see 2 REAL fathers with a maybe 8 year old and a 10 year old teaching their sons proper gun etiquette and safety and handling.
I cant imagine ever pulling a gun in anger,to teach someone a 'lesson' (Clearly sent to her AND her friends....YOU 'DISRESPECTED' ME!!!...I have a gun and will USE IT when you piss me off!,a THREAT)...beyond all sane reasoning in my book.
I feel he too is out of control and getting emotions tied into a firearm is baaaaad mojo for sure.I think he is a coward.

I totally agree with you spuds but the fact of the matter is ... If it were a gun or a knife it would of still been insulting to a lot of people because we are kind and caring people who have proper knowledge and respect for these weapons ... and not full of that type of rage .. thats what I was trying to say ..
Just curious how would All of you have handled this situation? 15yr old girl ..

Yes I have seen this a week ago also and off the bat I kinda felt for the kid.... yes she posted the note on her FB page then he youtub'd everthing for the world to see .... So I was still watching after that thought... She is young hormones raging and life is against her lol .. I was a 15 year old girl once also ... all that aside ....all of it... I think the shooting of the laptop was really stupid .... He can be ticked off and tell her anything... I think he should of made her take that laptop and give it to someone who could use it... he just spent 100 and some dollars on cleaning it.. I am sure it was a nice one... Sell it on Ebay get your money back.... He was ticked about it and kinda flew off the handle .. apple doesn't fall to far from the tree lol...all that being said....at this moment in time I feel for both daughter and dad ....... hope all goes well .. I want a re cap in 10 years

There's always more to any story or situation than we ever know... another thing I thought and needs to be considered.. In this day and age...we STILL DO NOT KNOW... If this whole thing is REAL..or staged for Youtube... Why..was it videoed...is my question?? If you are skeptical...you are not alone... check this link: lonestar1023.com/facebook-parenting-video-dad-shoots-laptop-is-fake/So assuming we aren't being shammed here... right, wrong or indifferent... the Dad here...pretty much did what My Pa would of done..or worse... we were NOT spared the rod...we were not spared the chores we were not paid an allowance We did & do; however, Love and respect our parents and We thank them for the way we turned out... Traumatic...well it was... Dramatic....Oh yeah But...will she remember it...??I think so....
When we were very small..We had Old open shroud fans everywhere in the house..No A/C in a home with a weekly income 0f 62.00 Like any kids..we played with the fans...blowing into them...hummmmmmmmmm
we tied strings, balloons and things to them...even after we were told to leave them alone... several times...
One evening as we were having supper... Dad looked at the fan...a small telltale piece of string was twisting in the breeze...
Dad got up and said...Kids..I'm gonna tell ya one more time to leave the fans alone... And with ONE SWIFT MOVE... He Shoved a HOT DOG..into the fan blades...Showing us why...
we remembered that...never touched the fan again
Here's a bunch of folks opinions www.wistv.com/story/16907290/dad-shoots-daughters-laptop-after-seeing-facebook-posts-about-parents

Great Post Cavey, got everyone thinking! =================== First comment...is it real? Didnt even occur to me to question that...guess Im like most all, programmed to believe what we see? The fan? PERFECT example of EXCELLENT parenting, showing how you can get hurt doing wrong...now if he had pulled a gun and shot the fan....NOT good parenting. That message is violence/WEAPON is how you handle problems and frustration....with a goodly amt of FEAR ME thrown in,because I can kill you if I desire? Then the negative postings removed? Thats happened to me twice, once when I posted neg response to the local news story about how EVERYONE supports no smoking at beach,my comments....GONE.Not a single neg comment there....NONE! The NBC affiliate would have NOTHING to do with a response not to their agenda. So much for the media.Same thing happened when I posted to the school website of the thug dirty High school basketball players....gone! So consider these 'comments are also heavily edited to support someones agenda, personal opinion and being presented as representing the truth? Whole thing starting to stink on ice IMO. ================================= kingsnake 5 days ago -24 updown Share | Flag My first comment got removed? For what, saying that this guy isn't exactly a contender for World's Best Dad? ======================= Samuel 5 days ago -10 updown Share | Flag He needed to start parenting 15 years ago ======================== Baptist 5 days ago +12 updown Share | Flag My comments keep disappearing! Good Lord,I couldnt make this stuff up....WIST....an NBC affiliate,go figure! ========================== wikipedia....
WIS was chosen to stand for "Wonderful Iodine State" because of the abundance of iodine in the South Carolina soil. It has always been an NBC affiliate, owing to its radio sister's long affiliation with NBC Radio.

Pholks, everyone can think as they wish, but i saw no anger in the man at all.....just hurt in his heart for the things his daughter said and don't forget a couple things he was teachin her........ Respect your elders......do as your parents say........and............gun control

Again I think we better be skeptical of what is coming out as fact....this whole story isnt adding up and a lot of unsubstantiated 'facts' are being put out as gospel truths.....Going to be REAL interesting when the truth DOES come out,and it will if the whole thing doesnt die a quiet death.
"The entire detective squad" Really? I kinda doubt the 'entire detective squad' line of BS.
I think the guy has some issues, and its going to come out.going to be interesting what real investigating, neighbor comments, coworkers, etc come out about this guy.Bet he is a major piece of work.
Reminds me more and more of the kid in the balloon......
Im starting to think this whole thing is a lesson to us to not blindly believe everything we read.Im feeling duped. ===================== Since the video lit up the Internet after Jordan filmed it Feb. 7, he has been visited by both the police and Child Protective Services (CPS), according to a post on his own Facebook wall. He says that the police told him “Kudos, sir,” and that he received a thank you from the entire detective’s squad, and that CPS was comfortable with him as a parent after the visit.
“The kind lady from Child Protective Services looked all through the house, the yard, and found ours to be a healthy home,” Jordan wrote. “She wasn’t at all scared of me but I could tell she doesn’t like guns as a general rule. To each their own though. She was comfortable that I was adhering to NC gun safety regulations for the protection of minors, and that’s all she needed.”
Jordan has not responded to email from ABC News, and someone hangs up on calls to his cellphone and office. The police department and Child Protective Services have not responded to requests for comment.

He didnt get father of the year award here, pretty much split down the middle and Im betting most who agreed dont have kids, only a couple said they do.Much more balanced comments here. Cranking off shots from a .45 100 yards from a street with cars going by,thats where I think he IS going to see problems.Sorry but that IS irresponsible gun handling right there. ================================= www.defensivecarry.com/forum/off-topic-humor-discussion/135889-father-shoots-daughters-computer-4.html======================= And more.....SO WHO IS A LIAR,THIS GUY OR THE COPS? Im telling ya,this is stinkin' on ice... Also Im AMAZED,(or not) of the pages of google reports from news agencies about CPS and LEO visiting this guy,and taking HIS WORD,without verification ,as FACT,when its checked up on it doesnt fly apparently. But media actually check up for factual content what they publish as news....NOW THATS A LESSON FOR US ALL! =================================== www.digtriad.com/news/article/214357/57/Police-Dad-Who-Shot-Daughters-Laptop-Did-Nothing-WrongTurns out, it is against the law to shoot a gun in Albemarle, but Jordan lives outside of city limits and in Stanly County, there is no such law. On Facebook, Jordan wrote of police, 'of course they came out. They received enough of 'oh my god he's going to kill his daughter' comments, that they had to.' On Facebook, Jordan wrote of police, 'of course they came out. They received enough of 'oh my god he's going to kill his daughter' comments, that they had to.' Jordan also wrote, 'Police by the way said kudos sir and most of them had their kids watch it. I actually had a thank you from an entire detective squad." "No officers from our department went out there to speak with him," said Halliburton.
Albemarle police and Stanly County deputies deny that they applauded Jordan for his actions as he claimed. Jordan is not speaking to the media about the video.

Sorry to keep posting but this thing really gets me.IF its real..... Saw another site discussing this....now he says all is cool with the daughter,he even offered to let her post her own rebuttal. She declined The comment,CLASSIC ABUSE pattern,I would agree. She (The beat up wife so to speak) doesnt dare respond for fear of the retaliation. Yup,guy is a @%^%$%,I'll bet on it. It already appears he is a liar if the police chief's comments are to be believed Lets see if Im right down the line,so far every thought Ive been having with a little research has been coming true....I think Ive pegged him. A possible abuser? May just be,we will see when the facts, actual facts come out,may take a few years. Little man syndrome, crappy life and a compensating weapon....thats my take. =================== The Mrs and I honing our Parenting Skills...Wanna post a REBUTTAL? MAKE MY DAY KID!!!!!!
