There's good news and then there's bad news. I have the first blossom open on my Early Girl tomato plant. I was feeling good about that until the GF pointed out these: And then I spotted a moth settled in as if to lay eggs. I flipped the moth away without thinking, so not sure what kind it was, kinda grey, 3/4 inch long when resting. So now I have moths, stink/squash bugs (the eggs) and who knows what else on my plants! Tomorrow I will scout out every leaf and probably spray with neem, too windy this evening for that. Wish me luck.

It has been so warm I am surprised there haven't been MORE bugs. Maybe they're waiting for a big reunion in May, lol.

I was right about the winter being mild! Mo...dat Looks Like the eggs of "Stinkius-Bugius"

Yeah, it's hard to catch the adults at it when you don't spend a lotta time with your plants, but I will have to try harder I guess. I have already seen the pinched look on a couple leaves, signs of the stink bug sucking the juice out, grrr.

Anybody have suggestions for a squashbug/stinkbug spray? Doesn't have to be organic, just something that will make them walk off a little ways from the plant and burst into flame, that's all I need.

Rita, do you have a picture of the asian beetle you have there? Not sure if we have those yet. Thanks in advance. Mo, when I left Missouri, there were but a few of them, don't know what they are like now, but if you are a distance from soybean fields you probably don;t have them like we do, or did..or what ever life brings next. Typically, every fall and early winter, we have hoards of them, I vaccuum 3=4 times a day,.,,Vacuum bUGS that is...to keep them at ; somewhat under control... On days they are bad, you can SEE them in the air outside...a walk out the door (where they are, the DOOR SCREEN...completely COVERED) and YOU are covered in them... AND.. THEY BITE HARD!!!A Ouch Dammit@#&..^#$@%^ kinda bite too They were not as bad this fall...hoping it was something they sprayed... They are MULTI-Colored Asian Lady beetles... Here's what one looks like: Here's a mass of them ready and willing to enter your window, door, cracks, crevices...

Mo, I would normally have a solution for You...Organic or otherwise...but the fact is... Not much bothers them any... UNLESS.... YOU KILL THEM AS CHILDREN If you spray just as; or shortly after, the eggs are hatching; the small nymphs are killed more easily. Use pyrethrin at the highest recommended mix Mo...and HIT as MANY in da PHACE as ya can the direct contact at very least confuses the older ones and makes em' eat less (or More??) Mo, I hope you can find the pictured product, but recently all I have been able to find was straight Pyrethrin...without the Rotenone... still works...just not as well If you have just a few, hand pick and squish the eggs you find... And, That TANGLE FOOT you mentioned...Hang a couple homemade pest strips somewhere near your vining crops

Thanks Rita. I am still hoping for a good tomato year . Some days it seems like an uphill battle with all the bugs.
