Of course "It wasn't God who made honky-tonk angels" was an "answer song". There were several of them back then, can't name any more right this second but the idea is a hit song comes out and then an answer to it. Hank Thompson had the original hit "The Wild Side of Life" which contained the line..."I didn't know God made honky-tonk angels". He did pretty good with it. Kitty was actually retiring from working with her road band and recorded "one last time" but the song took off so much they kept working. Hank, if you recall is the inventor of reverb and used it on a lot of his hits, usually just on the bridge or chorus. He had a lot of patents for other electrical/musical items too, but I digress...we'll miss you, KW.

All the good stuff that rock 'n rollers latched on to was invented by hillbillies, lol. Fuzz tone was first recorded by accident by Marty Robbins on "Don't worry 'bout me". A tube mal-functioned in the lead guitar's studio amp and they just decided to leave it and not "fix" it. I said "all the good stuff" but I gotta give credit where credit is due. Using feedback directly as a way to get a different note, that was all Jimmy Hendrix. ;D

No doubt a lot of folks have had feedback problems with mics and instruments, they just didn't fall to their knees and make it look and sound cool, lol. ;D

Phil~ As it turns out, I was wrong about Hank Thompson and the reverb thing. Of course "reverberation" is a natural phenomenon and no one can claim they invented it. I was referring to the spring-type reverb in a box that was so much used by pickers in the 50's-70's. Still, even that can't go to HT, it was that Hammond guy with the organs. ;D Sorry to put any mis-information out there, pholks.
