Keep hearing on the news that the price of milk may go up to $7 a gallon....YIKES.....I do use some canned milk, some powdered, and I like almond milk as well.. What really shocked me was that I just found out we no longer have a local dairy .....they sold all the cows and shut it down.....sadly some will no longer have jobs as well.... Better stock up on a few more cans of milk this week......

Yes Granny G sadly enough all of the dairy farms around here are long gone too. I used to work on one as a young man that had over 500 milking head. I can name another 6 or 7 that were in our area that are gone. Same thing with egg farms. We are no longer a nation of producers, more to the point we are consumers. Thank you Government!!!!! What next $8.00 a dozen eggs?
Having your own land with animals and crops is startin to look better and better every day. Just need an assault rifle to protect yerself from dem hungry politicians!!

Absolutely,we need to be informed of possible price increases and act accordingly! I did real good on the coffee increase when I first heard of that one, saved some pretty pennies loading up!

Sure wouldnt hurt no matter how things play out.Sounds like a plan but my milk stocks are already in I was thinking the exact same thing..buy powdered milk now before they mess with the reg milk prices. I however do not drink a lot of milk. Phil loves MILK!! So I do not know if he would like powdered milk. & the answer is he does not like it. When you are raised on some stuff like the powdered milk & rice.. I like rice..Phil does not. We had powdered milk when we were young & I have not had it for a very long time. I can get along with out milk if need be.

I drink fresh milk and use a gallon a week. If goes up that bad will hurt families with young kids. Powdered milk here is as highas fresh. I got couple boxes asa I use in baking cooking. Proably be 2 or 3 months before I get to the store to shop again.
There are different ways to cook rice. I like it okay. I have to have something to drink.

Jack: Lets just say I have what I need and then some, and to qualify my statement.....not that I think I need to. However I don't think assault rifles should be in everyone's hands, it's a matter of who has the proper training and mind set. Powdered Milk is not for me I was raised on whole milk and really can't tolerate any substitute. There again.....That's just me.

My husband heard on the new Friday Channel 13 here in Florida that NO MATTER WHAT OVER THE CLIFF OR NOT THE FDA WILL NOT ALLOW MILK PRICES TO GO UP. Time will only tell. If they don't care what they charge us in anything else why would they want to keep milk low?

Seems they did sign to keep the prices down.....they did not tell our store....small cans of milk were 99 cents each yesterday....and the NEW boxes of Cream of Wheat are half the size of the old ones, but the same prices, almost $5 a box.....

It seems they worked out a plan on the milk but has not been voted on.
Wheat stuff really came up. I eat shredded wheat cereal as no salt or sugar. I can eat with no sugar on it okay. It sure came up this year and I get store brand as cheaper and the taste is as good and no burnt ones in it to toss out. Shredded wheat is cheaper by lot from other cereals. I have not cooked any cereal in long time but have oats, maltomeat and other multi grain one if I want. One can use hot milk on shredded wheat. I do not like oats without sugar. I was on no sugar for awhile.
I should get a few more cans of milk to have on hand for cooking. I have powdered milk to use and use in baking and cooking. Powered milk as high as fresh.
Bread at store here the cheapest now is $1.79 last looked aND 1 1/2 loaf.

All the more reason to garden and grow our own and barter I say. find someone with a cow and see what they need in return fr butter and milk. I use to milk 18 goats, with my arthritis i just can not do it anymore. No matter what they do it seems prices have no reason to go back down. Gas goes up prices sky rocket gas goes down, have any of you seen prices go back down? I haven't in my area. I just keep adding every year to varieties and vegetables and fruits to grow more. On birthdays and other holidays we by a fruit tree and seeds now.
