This is the email i received from jack's wife..........
Hello Ralph, I am sorry to bring to you, sad news that Jack passed away on 12/2/14. I write this with a heart still breaking over the loss of my dearest husband. Already, the days are long and the nights so lonely without him. he was my rock and my soulmate on whom I depended so much. We were married nearly 49 years, which is a marathon inthis day and age and shows of the strong love we shared. Jack spoke of you so many times and wished he could have visited you. His cancer progressed thru his body so rapidly. He went into Hospice for 2 weeks before Christmas where they corrected his medications to suit his pain and discomfort enabling us to go to Christchurch to be with our 2 children and grandkids. It was a wonderful time and no-one would have guessed that he would have such hellish decline and be gone in just 6 weeks. I was able the spend the last week with him, day and night, at the Hospice and seeing the love and expert care the nurses gave him, was very comforting. Although his pain was increasing and he seemed to sleep most of the time, when he woke he would many times throw the odd funny remark.....Jack being Jack! When God took Jack and freed him from his pain, thru my tears of relief that no longer would he suffer, I saw a wonderful transformation come over Jack's face. There was even a hint of a smile as he knew he was now to be seated at God's right hand. I Thank you so much for sending me the YouTube sites. I have sat for hours this afternoon listening to some of the songs and old hymns that Jack loved to hear. As many tears fell, I felt a comfort in those words and have gained strength from them. I thank you again. If possible, could we keep in touch as I know Jack would like that! Could you send me your address so that I could send you Jacks service sheet. There are several photos of him on it. Please don't think of me as a silly old woman. I know Jack would have wanted this contact made. Regards Shirley Lyford

Thanks Bro for posting this, took me a little bit *and a few tears) to be able to put this together... it isn't often that You can read something like this and feel the pain the author is carrying..I hope she does well in his absense; so many left behind don't.. Perhaps she would like to join Us-we'd love to have her and welcome her with Open Arms. Shirley
Jack always started each post with a cheery " Gidday" He was a great phriend and a hellofva gardener...we shared many stories, tips and info and we had an occasional disagreement, But Jack and I...we worked them out.. I did a search and have this link to all Jack's Posts..and his Beautiful photos.. photos of a land I shall never see..Honor Jack with taking the time to read through these. Posts By Jack >>pharmerphil.proboards.com/user/333/recentHis Humor...was just the best..Here's his "Lil Jack" pic. and 2 of him...what a smile In a Thread By Lucy: "In Loving Memory of my Daddy" Gidday Well what I am going to say might not help you. You will never forget or truly get over the loss of a good father. I lost mine in 1972 and still miss him. I never inherited a pennyfrom him, but I feel he left me with riches that no money can ever buy. I believe that most of Us feel the same Jack about You...and what We all gained by having You as a Phamily Member here. Jack..in Your Own words... Cheers Mate

I am writing this post to express my condolences and sorrow for not really taking the time to get to understand a man that was so loved by family and friends, one that contributed much to the Pharmer Phill site. Ralph I know Jack was a close friend and I feel for your loss because I know how you take friendship to heart. I truly regret not taking the time to understand a man who you saw so much good in.....my loss. This has taught me a valuable lesson on tolerance and understanding for this was a man who was loved by many and dear to so many here. God rest his soul and may his widow find peace with time.

I am so humbled that so many of you would bother to reply to Phil's post regarding Jack--a man you have never met physically but some of you had come to know so well.A big thankyou to Phil, you may never realise how 'touched' I was to read your awesome post. Also thanks for collating them all together so I could read them. Any little thing I see or hear about Jack gives me such a buzz. I am glad jack has left you all with something--- his friendship! Regards Shirley Lyford
