I think pintos are the only beans Sams sells. And bags of regular white rice. I have never bought beans or rice there. But I think when I need rice will get a bag there. I need to check prices at Walmart. Per pound. And Krogers.
I plan to go to food pantry Thursday. Weather suppose to be ok.
I heard from my daughter. She is doing ok. Lot of paper work and she works. And her father in law dies the day after her husband. No services and they olan something in summer with ashes of both .

I've loved every bean I have ever tried, 'cept maybe adzuki. Either I've cooked them wrong, or the beans were too old. Somehow I got out of the habit of cooking beans for dinner: got to change that. I've got several kinds in my cupboard right now.

Dirtand yarn I think I had that adzuki beans once. Can't remember that many years back. I have been trying to get up enough energy to make a big pot of chili and freeze some. Bean cooking does take time. 5 mornings a week I go on senior bus.
Supper last night was canned blackeyed peas and green beans and mashed potatoes. Milk and hand full of pills.
I tried Xmas limas once.

Phil, Johnny will eat my homemade vegetable soup but he loves a plain ole boiled beef frank. He doesn't eat a bun, just white bread. He doesn't like garlic (neither do I) or onions. Doesn't eat any type of pepper. Makes spaghetti boring. He eats an egg sandwich every morning and will sometimes want another one for dinner. When we have hamburgers they are nothing but salt, pepper, and meat - no added seasonings. He'll at a filet but wants it well done. When we eat out he'll eat ribs - plain - no sauce. He'll eat a Jimmy John's #1 sub with easy lettuce. I can't say he complains. He just won't eat anything that tastes differently than what he wants. If it's too spicey or changed up a bit he'll get him some cereal and be happy. Oh. And he'll eat fishsticks. Wow sounds like me except, I cannot eat a bunch of other stuff. Only GF Bread which is 6.00 a loaf. So I choose not to eat it. Or very rarely! Have to be careful of seasonings. Only supposed to eat GF! I usually Love Garlic and Onion and fresh seasonings, because it's fresh. Dave on the other hand, Loves his boxed food! Banquet Chicken, Frozen battered fish, Chinese from a can, He can't eat a steak and potato anymore he likes his food to be mixed! He's a Celiac's nightmare!

I was refer ing the mixed beans packages you get at store; They have lentils green peas and stuff cooks fast with regular beans. I think mixing what you want be good. Beans take a long to cook here.
Never heard of fried crackers before. Tells us how it comes out.
Found the Flour I need yesterday! Will give them a try today. I have to get some blood work done, do it after! Thanks!

Well I made the crackers!! I fried them ... Not bad at all! In fact I didn't use the stuff I didn't have added Garlic granules , I am assuming that one of the things she uses is a binder I got it to work, but it's a PITA!! Lol They are good tho! I will find another recipe using Rice flour, I make them with Almond flour and they are good but eating too many almonds, well lets just say they affect me LOL So im looking for a good either coconut flour recipe or a good Rice flour recipe.... Other than that I am going to try my hane at making a stuffed mushroom with crab tonight!! We will see! I'm not seeing anything I like on line yet, Except for Paula Deans..

Stuffed shrooms are sooooooo good! OMG!! It was soooooo good!! Only thing different I will do is make it in Button shrooms! I was actually looking for something good to take when we go to a friends for dinner. Think I found it! Wow! I have one left for tonight! Recipe: 1 C. Crab, 1/2 C. Cream Cheese, 1/2 C, Fresh Parsley (I used 1 T. dried) ,1/2 C. Onion Minced, 4 Tbls. Parmesan Cheese,House Seasoning to taste. Recipe soon. 2 lg portabello, or 10 small, House seasoning :1 C. Salt, 1/4 Black Pepper, 1/4 C. Garlic Powder. Use butter or some oil to coat the mushrooms take the stem and some of the mushroom meat out. Cook in oven till alot of the moisture is out. Combine the crabmeat, cream cheese, parsley, green onions and Parmesan. Season with House Seasoning, to taste. Stuff the mushroom caps with the mixture and top with bread crumbs. Spray the tops with nonstick spray to help them brown. Transfer to the oven and bake for about 20 minutes, or until the filling is hot and melted. I did not use Bread crumbs. Of course. I went to food antry Thursday. Big truck comes in from Denver, I think, once a month. They did not have much. You take your chance on what they give out. It cost me $11 for lunch and bus. . No matter where we eat it cost about same.
I got 5# chicken I presume leg qrts and 4# pinto beans, 4# fancy spg (100% whole wheat and grain) 3 cans cream corn, 2 cans tomato sauce and 2 of diced tomatoes, and 2# rasins , 3 loaves of rye bread. 8 little bottles of some kimd of soda.
5# apples and two bottles of juice and q bottle soybean oil. Those 3 thing I can not eat and give to son.
Like 130 miles round trip, leave at 8:30 and get back around 3:30 .

Like 130 miles round trip, leave at 8:30 and get back around 3:30 . Sounds like a good bunch of groceries Colorado I could use a big bag of pinto beans hdsk I like leg quarters..either keep em' as is, or cut into thigh and drumstick... the thighs are the tastiest part of the chicken IMO We had chicken thighs last night, we made what Laura called a complex meal.. First I mixed up some Garam Masala spice..I took some thighs that I had taken the skin from and seared them in EVOO and butter... then we made Slow cooker Chicken Tikki Masala, with homemade garlic-cilantro Naan It was a first for me.. There is a Indian Restaurant north of here and the prices are a lil spendy.. We have been wanting to go there sometime... But, we sometimes make a dish at home..First then go out for the same sometime to compare ... I done blew the doors off the best Tex-mex restaurant in the area with my Pork Carnita's You see, we don't mind buying a meal...but it's got to be better than what we can do at home... or I piss and moan and sometimes ...tell the management that their food Sucks...

Phil I don't complain at a restaurant, Unless I get gluten on my plate after specifically telling them I am a Celiac and cannot have any Gluten what so ever and they bring my plate with a giant piece of bread on top my steak! I usually don't go back If I don't like the meal!
Speaking of steak thats what I had last night! Steak and Potatoes! Have to say it was pretty darned good!

Tonight I made a Beef Stew and some corn bread ohhh it was good .. I also make big batches of chili to freeze for meals .. its nice when you don't really feel like cooking Colorado sorry for your loss .. My well thoughts go out to your family

I'm with ya Phil....thigh's are the best part of the chicken. hdsk We get a 10 pound bag of leg quarters for 29 to 69 cents a pound...separate and freeze......sometimes we fry, bake or boil to make chicken and dumplins.
But it still ain't as good as goin out in the yard and catch'in an old hen fer sunday dinner. shake

I had a stir fry last night! Had a lil steak left over decided to mix things up a bit!! I love to but seasonings on Chicken legs and put them in the oven. ever since I had to go Gluten free I have just seasoned them and pop them in the oven! I like it better than when I used to put flour and fry them! You can taste the seasoning better and they still get crispy! I have a big thing of chicken legs maby I'll take them out and have them for tonight!! Thanks for the idea Cavey!!
