Asparagus purges the kidneys and spleen. It is just cleanin out the toxins in your body.

We pick most oph it on the side oph the road. It grows everywhere out here. The patch in our garden is only one year old so no real nice spears here at the house. at least phor a couple oph years.

Lucky... can't find it wild and never had the time to put the bed in.. So asparagus gets put off a little more time.

I PLANTED ASPARAGUS IN A RAISED BED USING STRAW THIS SPRING, SOUNDS LIKE I DIDN'T PUT THE ROWS FAR ENOUGH apart , HAD NEVER PLANTED IT BEFORE, they were two year old plants . I know some day I will have to replace the straw .I don't know how easy it is to tranplant .Hopefully I can make some more raised beds this summer, my land stays wet for awhile after a rain. I would like to use wood , would it be alright to use out door paint on the wood so it won't rot ?Any suggestions ?I thought of blocks but they are so heavy.

Mary .....I wouldnt paint the wood, even store bought wood will last ya more than a few years... reason for the no paint, think it might break down and leach into the soil.... that would be worse than chemicals! Y ou can make raised beds out of wood, (no railroad ties ) , rocks, anything really looks good.

Linseed oil will protect the wood for some time. Just mind the warnings on the can.
