I have three hills of butternut along with other winter squash and the other squash have nice vines getting ready for squash growth. Every year I plant butternut and they always have thin vines and I know thin vines mean small squash. I put in alot of compost in as I do my other hills and have great results, any advice would be great while I still have time, they are starting to vine at this time and I lub butternut

Doug we plant alot of squash and keep them well composted also...
We have placed bannana peels in the sqush hills, something about the extra potassium that makes the vines soar... Our vines are normally thicker... Maybe the peels, maybe not but that was my sucsess.....

It's easy when ya plant here and there... With a little over 5 acres around the house ya can find a place or three to tuck something here and there.
