Down here in the Dallas / Ft Worth area, Walgreens has a coupon for 10 for $1 packages of seeds every winter this time. I bought 20 packages with most of them being flowers. The veggies I got were green and yellow beans, jalapeno peppers, bell peppers, 4 kinds of tomatoes, cucumbers, and brocolli. That is a good start for the garden. This weekend I will start the seeds in the starter tray I have. Last fall while I was cleaning up the garden, I saved the habareno plant and will plant it in the garden this spring.

Seeds have been coming in around here since Christmas was over. The feed store has potatoes in already. I have been seeding for a couple of weeks now, and got my hot peppers started in Dec. (the hotter they are the slower they grow). I grew several packets of Walmart seeds last year and they did great. Songbird I'll be glad to send you some seeds to get you started if you like. Let me know what your interested in. I have a seed list on here under "Seed swap 06" I think. Or just pm me and I'll send it to ya.
Another thing I've noticed is different Walmarts will have different seeds. I have to travel to Macon twice a week, stopped in there Super store and they had a lot of the same stuff, but a few different things like purple carrots, Dragon Tongue Peas, etc. Here locally they didn't offer those. So when you get the opportunity go to other seed sources for variety that locals may not have. trudy

We bought some squash seed at Wally Worlds last year. It was a revolting developement when the squash on the package turned out something quite different. But just for the heck of it we will waste a doller just to see what grows. Got all kinds of squash out of em. But will buy good seed for varieties We want.

The last time I was in Mason City the big place was closed up and building was for sale. Never did buy much there as thought prices were a little rich. This is on the west of MC. Hear the hospital bought out the nursery cross the street. Wonder where there going to move to?
