We met the goat lady yesterday!
She is wonderful!
She has French Alpines! They are beautiful! She has 2 males and
5 females.
The goats were a bit shy, and scared of Maria!
They watched her intensely, and when Maria got out of their range for watching her, they would stand up on their gate and peek over turning their head to where Maria was.
Maria loved the goats! She wasn't scared of them at all!
Oh The goat lady will be a wealth of information! She lives simply, and that in itself appeals to me.
She has no family around here, so we asked her to come over for Christmas dinner on Christmas day. She has 2 brothers, but lost contact with them years ago. she has a niece, whom she has never met.
She was a veterinarian, went to college in The twin cities in Minnesota.
We took her to Urgent care at hospital cuz she has been having pain in her hip for some time now.
But before we took to hospital, we went out for lunch, and we had a great time getting to know her and her us.
I didn't take any photos this time cuz I thought we should get to know each other before I start snapping photos of her and her goats. But believe me, there will be photos..it's just going to take some time.
Her home is in the front part of the barn. To me it looks like it is an office. She has a frig, a hot plate to cook on and a crock pot.
There were many books on the shelf above her desk, that were very interesting. One I noticed was on essential oils. Only reason I noticed that one was because it had large print for the title!
We talked about goats meat, goats milk, and she is going to give us some goats meat to try. she says she like it in the crock pot.
So I'll try it that way.
Never had goats meat before, has anyone here had it? tell me about it please?
After meeting the goat lady, I haven't been able to get something out of my mind.
You see, The goat lady is young, not old by any means, she needs a place to live so she can have her goats. So that is why she lives in a barn. Now what I was wondering is....does anyone know of a place where older people, like the goat lady, could live and keep her goats? She want to have chickens, a garden, and a cow. She'd like to live with other people like herself. Now She said there was such a place in Tamarack, Minnesota, but never really checked into it.
I would like her to come live here on our place, but we only have a 2 bedroom home...4 rooms all together. *Sigh* I would really like to have a bigger home, so she could come live here with us.
But if a person wanted to say build a small home like a 2 room home and let a person live there...........how would one go about it to make it happened? That is where I need help, as I have no idea. I guess I'd like a place where people have their own home but on our land, they come and go as they please, but yet they still have friends close by if they want to visit or need help with something. The goat lady needs a place to live as the land and barn that she lives in is for sale.
She is way to young to go into a assistance living place, and doesn't want to live in town. I want to help her, but I just don't know how to go about it.
I think there needs to be a place for people who want to still have animals, garden and have friends close by, but yet, have their own home, their own space. Do you get what I am trying to get across here? Please tell me you do.
As it is hard for me to get this idea out for people to understand what I am trying to say.
Ok more later on the goat lady......
