Just spent 3 hours out shoveling ice off the driveway. Haven't ever had to use a potato fork to break up this stuff. Chunks as big as 50 pounds. What was by the back steps and garage door is pure ice. Only good thing is we didn't lose electricity

Sounds like you got hit pretty hard up there. Just raining and warm down here. It is about 70 now. Warmer then some days last week. We need the rain so I am not complaining.

We woke to snow. The nice dry fluffy kind you cn shovel with a broom. Its supposed to keep at it all day, then turn to rain tonight, then back to snow in the morning, mening a treacherous commute tomorrow.

That ice is murder. I got some of the stuff off my front steps, no such luck with my back steps. I will have to figure a way to get out of here. I am all out of ice melt too. Smart huh? I bought a bunch of groceries and did errands before the storm, but forgot that. A shovel won't touch it. I will have to rig something up after the wind goes down. Maybe some kitty litter for me to walk on til I figure something out. Welcome winter my butt!!!!!

gramar2 if you have any fertilizer that is high in nitrogen that helps break up ice. Ashes from a wood stove or fireplace are very good for traction as well.
