A cat has some people in Whitley County taking a double take. It's not just any cat, however. Those who've spotted the feline describe it as "huge." David Turner says a friend snapped a picture of the questionable cat with a cell phone camera. At first, he thought his friend had shown him a picture of a house cat as a joke, but then he realized he was he was looking at something much more ferocious. "It's very evident if it's a picture of a house cat, this is a picture of something bigger," Turner says. Turner said many people think the panther-like cat is a tall tale. But wildlife officials had said it's possible, although not likely, panthers could be seen in southern Kentucky. "My primary concern is that people we know that there is something dangerous out there if they're walking," Turner tells us. www.wkyt.com/home/headlines/15456121.html

Now , thar's a black cat that could be unlucky.....iphin' ya met up wit it..... up close 'n personal......unarmed....... I read some oph the comments on dat article......I see ya got some oph those danged treehuggers down there dat are too dumb to realize dat dey ain't just overgrown putty tats.... Some pholks just can't grasp the facts that cougars , mountain lions , panthers , and the like are predators. They will even attack a human being iphin' the notion strikes 'em.... And , unarmed , we is easy prey. Several times in the past , I've seen tracks where cougars have followed/tracked me and I never knew it until I saw their tracks on top of mine. Sure made the hair on the back of my neck stand up !!!! ;D Maybe , they just didn't want a tough old phart like me....

A mountain lion crossed right in front of my sister one night. It's been sighted between here and Grand Marias, MN. That looks like a panther to me! I wonder if it was some one's pet at one time?

Looked like panther to me! We had a "big cat" of some kind around here a while back- killing and eating people's outdoor pets. Not sure if they ever figured out what kind, but if memory serves me right- we have bobcats, panthers and something else around here...... I always carry something(stick, pole, gun) outside after dark to defend against things. I tend to be a bit of a fraidy cat.

I didn't mention that I also have my sneakers on so I can RUN if need be I hate the dark....... bb , just in case you don't know , running is the WORST thing you could do ! If a predator is just thinking about attacking , running has at least a 98% probability of triggering an attack. CM , not to worry ! I'm a pistol packin' Papa ! I've seen all the large predators here in Wa. St. up close and personal. The most memorable was when I came face to face with a full grown Grizzly Bear. We had a staring contest at about 6 feet. Fortunately , I won the contest 'cuz I didn't want to be his dinner. I was packing a good deer gun (6.5 X 55 Swedish Mauser) , but that's not one that's considered big enough for Grizzlies. I'd say he was a big one........I'm 5'6" and his hump was slightly taller than my eyes......When he started to wander off , he stopped several times and looked over his shoulder at me....I just stood my ground and didn't start shacking until he was out of sight..... I do have to admit that I had to fertilize a tree shortly after he was gone !
