I really don't know if this would be the appropriate forum in which to post this item (or if it's even relevant to this board). I just posted this the other day over at the Diner and figured it may not hurt to post it here. I devote a little segment of time each year to this because I've always been very passionate about this subject. In just a few days, April 14-15, we will mark the 96 th Anniversary of the sinking of RMS Titanic. Over 1500 lives were lost in this tragedy when the huge ocean liner struck an iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean on her maiden voyage around Midnight on April 14 th, then sunk into the ocean on April 15 th — 2½ hours later. Perhaps we could observe a few moments of silence on this date.

That would be very fitting, It's surprising how many folks I have met that had a connection with those that were lost in this tragedy

My mom claims she had a cousin on the Titanic. She said her parents received word that he was coming over to the USA, and then they never heard from him again. I should look further into this. When the movie came out back in '97 or '98 or was it '99? Anyway, I saw the movie 7 times! We even went to St. Paul to see the items from the Titanic. It was great!

That is definitely something worth checking into, MickyG! The curiosity would simply "eat away" at me!

Hey Larry......yahoo has a write up on the Titanic.....ya outa check it out. Caveman, I have no doubt that, at this time of year, every search engine and news site would probably have articles referencing the Titanic! I've been afraid to look into those because I would never get away from the computer for the next several days! I very well may look into it though. Thank you!
