Good morning. It's been quite a while since I last posted a message, but I see that I'm not alone - most people are busy with harvest and putting food by for the winter. Flash flood warnings are up in anticipation of Hanna's arrival. The rain started this morning about 4, although at the moment there are only light showers. Gale warnings were struck and upgraded to storm warnings for tonight. Sounds lilke we're in for some heavy weather. So this is a good day to stay inside and do a little desk cleaning and cooking. I plan to try my hand at a Cassata - or perhaps I should say try my luck. JT

Morning JT! I haven't posted in a long time either, but like you, with Hanna atwirl out here right now in NC, I'm stuck inside as well. the center of the storm is within 50 miles of the house here, and we are having some strong gusts, but all is well. The chickens are out enjoying the worms after 4 inches of rain during the night and a light sprinkle going on now. There are some minor branches down about the yard, but nothing serious happening here. Its going to be a great day to finish the latest book I am reading: Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver. What a great read!!! Stay safe!!

We came through Hanna just fine.... a few fallen branches and a rocking chair blew over on the porch(can't believe we left those out ), but we never lost power and only lost satellite briefly. I slept through the whole thing :gdnt: From what we saw on the satellite radar- the eye passed pretty much over our house. Creepy- so quiet(according to Doug). We still have 8 chickens and everything is still standing Life is Good!! Everyone in her path- stay inside and stay dry!!

G'Day DAP and botesbabe. I'm happy to report that my first attempt at making a cassata yesterday was successful. Cassata is a Sicilian layered dessert cake with ricotta filling and chocolate-butter frosting. I bought the pound cake at the market, and made the filling and frosting.
I had to laugh yesterday watching the talking heads and weathermen on TV with the big "Tracking Hanna" signs on the screen, treating the thing as though it were the storm of the century. But then, there was some serious flooding in places I hear.
When tropical storms arrive here in the cold seas of the North Atlantic they tend to disintegrate, so Hanna is history, and we all survived the wind and rain. Glad to hear that you did as well.
