Our local TV station did a test tonight to show us old folks what will happen when the analog signal is turned off...they shut it off for about 15 seconds..and YES, every durn TV set went blank, just like it was when I was growing up, and Mom would tell us to look for the white cat in the snow storm...LOL...just static....so now, I have to buy a converter box plus the new antenna. I just wish they would leave things be, I am too old to conform anymore. Our cable to the town was turned OFF, company could not afford to keep going, turned off three towns, so we just got the old anteanna up and got it going...now we will have to do it all over in 100 days.

Grannyg...I know what you mean, heck I was doin fine with the analog...already got many channels, have us ona dem 100 mile antennas...I phigured the worse about this switch thang...cause, like Hi-speed internet...I phigured they were fergettin about us country pholk So we bought Us 2 of them convertor thangs tho...and I gotta say, we get really nice reception, even gained a weather channel and a cooking network...   But, I'm contemplatin' right now over gettin a rotor...seems we could get about 4 more ifin I did..the thang is..Minnesota..and climbing on the roof in November is..well _______ (Insert adjective)  I'll start...Stoopid I have a similiar thread somewhere here, I or one of the Mods may put these together. |

i sent hubd out to get a converter box n he brought home a fancy antana    we need to get one soon. our tv station did a test too but i didnt see it, were not really tv people. we do watch the news. i told my kids about how the tv stations use to all go off at what? midnight? anyhow they didnt belive me. |

I bought the converter box and still use the same antenna, which is in one of the upstairs bedrooms. I gotta get it up in the attic so I will get better reception. The picture is better and we get quite a few more stations. We are about 75 miles from the antenna towers.
I am thinking about upgrading to a better and more expensive box. Have to resync the channels at least once a week.
