I have no hummingbirds this year...no one comes to the feeders except for bugs and ants and my neighbor noticed the same thing. He said he had fewer last year also but I had regular visitors all spring and summer. This whole season I've seen only one or two.
Anyone else in Georgia notice a decline in hummers? I wonder if the excessive heat could have anything to do with it...

I have noticed fewer this year to. Don't know whats going on either.

I think they are all fighting over my one feeder.....Seriously- Do any of your neighbors use Chemlawn or any of the chemically maintained yard companies?? That will keep them away. They hate the smell or something, but they will not come around at all.

There are a lot of small local yard companies in this area but I don't think they use any chemical products. It's mostly just cut and trim work. We're on water restriction due to the drought so no one is doing much to their grass. Next time you see the hummers fighting over your feeder tell them to take I95 south until they hit Savannah, then NW to Statesboro. I'll even put up another feeder for them. I love all the birds we get but really miss those little guys.
