On my old Silver-Reed Sovereign 750 typewriter (one of the 1970's Japanese import kinds of typewriter, that can be carried around and were used by college students), the carriage-return spring is out. It snapped one day with a loud bang.
Since then I have had to prop up the typewriter at a 25* angle in order to type.
Where can I find a new spring for the machine?

Doesn't matter, I already went there and checked.

Have you inquired at a typewriter repair place if they could order you the spring?
