So sorry that you are having problems with the tiller, Phil. Maybe you need to slow down and that is God's way of telling you? Look at the bright side. You won't be digging up more gardens for you to have to tend while it is so hot outside... Friday the 13th is a lucky day for me. I am a 13th baby, too! Hope you are able to get it fixed soon...

Hey Axe........If the problem is just rust , maybe Phil could use his tank & carb ? Another possible prob since it sat for awhile is that the magneto got weak. I've had the same thing you described happen to me cuz of a weak magneto......once the engine gets a little warm , the mag cuts out...... Just an idea ........

Well, I spent most of Sat. tearing down da old tiller. I flushed out the tank real good, (found pin holes in it and JB welded those) cleaned up the ol carb and pickup, shinned up the flywheel and mag, replaced the ol starter rope and now we have our tiller again! She's a runnin real good again. Spent Sun morning bustin sod for a new garden spot for next season. I'm a headin' out now to add some more plantin space Sorry Phil, no luck finding your parts on this end. I'll keep askin around for ya. Remember, dar's always da ol tater fork

If the hole is just in the side of the block and the cyl and stuff are ok just weld a patch on it, you can even just bolt some plate over it too. If ya do be sure to make a gasket for it. I've got an older Ford engine in my old swather that I had to weld the valve seats back into the head on and weld up a bunch of freeze cracks. Worked good!

Well BScamo its real funny cause I was just thinking bout asking just what you said bout a weak magneto. My troy was worked on cause wouldn't start, when I got it back he said he cleaned up the mag. After bout 30 minutes it started doing the same thing. An old guy told me sometimes the mag gets weak and won't power up. I wanted to ask you guys what ya thought and here it is. So the phamily comes through again. And Phil, I'm sorry to hear your problems bout the tiller, After your wife tiller could be most important loss a heavy gardener could have........sorta lol. Sorry I'm late reading lots of the posts phamily but I'm just starting to get comfortable with the procedures here.....and I like it.
