This article describes how to check the integrity of the hard disk drive in Windows XP. After you install Windows XP, the Scandisk command is not available.
Double-click My Computer
Right-click the hard disk drive that you want to check.
Click Properties
Click Tools.
Under Error-checking, click Check Now.
Click Start

I tried it and it said ( The disk check could not be performed because exclusive access to the drive could not be obtained)  |

Doug, didn't it give you the option to have the disk check run the next time you started your computer? should have been in the same pop up window |
